Thoughts on H&K USP

Hey fellas need some outside knowledge. I've got the .45 itch and have been looking into a few different options. The h&k usp's have always caught my eye but the price tags has kept me walking. I have read great reviews about these weapons but is there any defining difference between h&k and glock, xds, etc that make them worth the extra money? Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to shoot one for myself so I'm relying on your info!! Thanks!
Mike

I don't know if this helps. But, my firearm safety class instructor had a H&K USP. When I asked him about which firearm suited me the most he stated, "Whatever you shoot better and feel comfortable with. I shoot the H&K because I shoot great with it, but if I couldn't afford it, I would buy a SA-XD."

And, this guy puts the ole' wives tale that LEOs can't shoot to rest, lol.

How does it shoot/handle in comparison to an xd or glock?

I really wanted a USP .40 Compact but I ended up getting a 9mm 4" XD due to price... the XD itself was about $200 less, and I save a couple bucks on each box of ammo. Just passed the shooting part of my CCH course this morning with it so I now have 800 rounds through it. Not a single problem. 100% sure I made the right decision.

Will I still consider a USP Compact in the future? Absolutely. Along with a nice Sig or some form of 1911... whichever catches my eye when I actually have the $$$ for it.

At my local range I can rent a full size USP, but they don't have a compact in there yet. Once they do I'll probably jump on it to try it out.

My buddy just picked up his .45 USP Compact yesterday. We went and put a box through it, I wasn't overly impressed with it, but then I only put 8 rounds through it. My buddy couldn't figure out the sights on it, any advice would be appreciated.

The H&K USP is a different animal from the XD and the Glock. The USP has a manual safety/decocker for example. It's Variant 1 is a SA/DA pistol. I have both an XD Tactical and a full size USP. I like them both. I shoot the XD for fun and competition. The USP is one of my home defense guns.
