Keltec P11 or P9 who's got them?

Well summer is aproaching and my wife gave me the green light to get a birthday present. I've been thinking of a new CC gun but didn't want to spend more then $400. I've looked at Kahr's and Keltec's and am leaning more toward a Keltec 9mm. This would not replace the XD 357 SIG I usually carry but for when I wear shorts ect... I like the belt clip and it's small enough to drop in a pocket holster.

So who's got one and how do you like it or dis-like it pros and cons? Pic's would be great too. Also if you have a better reason why I should reconsider Kahr let me know. I haven't made the final decision.

Thanks,

I have both the PM9 and the Keltec P3AT.
I'm quite happy with both of them, but the Kahr is by far the better made of the two.

I've got a P11 and a p3at. The p11 is fine gun, but I prefer the wifes Skyy CPX-1 in 9mm, identical in size.

Better fit and finish, no 'break in time', it'll take several mags before the FTF problems clear up enough to enjoy it, about 100 rounds before you could even consider carrying the P11. Same for the p3at.

CPX1 Pluses:
better fit and finish
runs out of the box
comes with 2 magazines and regular and extended floor plates

costs 10 bucks less and you get the spare mag and a 2 tone finish if you want.

The P11 WILL rust on you if you don't clean it almost weekly with IWB carry on the clip. My p3at is alot better, but it's in a vapor proof pocket holster.

P11 (or p3at) can be bought for 230 bucks +tax, CPX-1 for 220 + tax.
take your pick.

Don't have the P9 and if you put it side by side with the P11 and p3at you won't either. The trade off in size is not worth the decrease in rounds.

Also with either gun you can modify the mags to take 12 rounds on the P11 or CPX-1.

I carried the P11 on a belt clip and thats where the slight rust issues came up (never had any other carry gun do that), it's also slightly big for a pocket gun... if the pocket is your intention get a p3at, the P11 is going to be much harder to draw.

The P-11 now sits in the safe.. donno what to do with it exactly. It was warm the other day and I went on a bike ride with the wife, I put on my 511 vest to cover my XD9 and spare mags and have a water bottle and get all my crap out of my pockets (keys, cell phone, wallet ect. ect.) riding a bike with all that crap in pockets sucks and thats about the only time I wear the "shoot me first" vest. Anyway the P11 (or CPX1) fits perfectly in it, so I suspose it'll see some use this summer on bike rides.

I carry the p3at everyday in a vapor barried pocket holster, not the best but for size it's untouchable IMO.

I have a Keltec PF-9 as a truck/carry gun.

I initially had issues with FTFs when I was firing 147 JHPs which don't really work in the P11 either.

Once I got a solid grip on it I could shoot them fine.

I have never had a failure using anything 115 or 124 in JHP or ball.

They have had some issues with production with one of the more recent changes being a change in the feedramp.

I have a recent model with the P11 style barrel and it works just fine.

I got mine for $260 so you can't really beat that for a truck or summertime carry piece compared to a Kahr for twice as much.

I have have heard of just as many failures with the Kahrs with heavier ammo. I have a buddy who goes to my range and we swap back and forth. He seems to have issues with cheaper ammo as well.

The trigger is definately nicer on the Kahrs and they are more polished but you pay for it.

The KT PF9 has a better trigger then the P11 and it's a single stack so it is slimmer.

Check out KTOG.com for all sorts of info from the koolaid drinkers.

I've never heard of Skyy CPX-1. I'm going to look into them and see if any of the local gunstores has one in stock. I may need to go look at a different Kahr the one I looked at was not a PM9. The Kahr I looked at was about as big as the XD sub I've got.

The Kahr's are nice, but heavy and expensive.

I have several Keltecs, including the new PF9. The PF9 is a great gun for what you have in mind (there is no factory belt clip yet). It holds 7+1 rounds of 9mm, will shoot +P ammo, is light weight, slim and costs about half of what the Kahrs go for. I like my Keltec 3AT for a true pocket gun, but the PF9 is a great tuck and carry gun. Keltec is cranking them out, so you should see them in your local gun store soon. The Sky is a Keltec knock off. Do a Google seach for more opinions about the Sky.

I have had my P11 for a while now, about 2k downrange with it. I did the buff on the feed ramp, and replaced the springs, but that is it. Has run perfectly since day one, but then I have only used the 124gr loads with it.

Biggest gripe, and asset, is the very heavy trigger pull.

I had a P-11 a few years ago. Can't remember why I got rid of ot. I never had any problems in the 800 or so rounds I put through it. I wish I still had it.

Well, the P-11 doesn't need the time if you take a little time to pollish it up a bit before you shoot first. I have one that I did minor work to and it hasn't jammed once. I like it, but I wish I had the PF-9. It's a little nicer pistol from Kel-Tec.

I just traded my P11 for a Ruger Mark II. Crazy? Well, since I'm totally enamored with my XD45 and plan on promoting that to my carry piece and have just had too many problems to safely carry the P11, I decided to trade it for a gun I've always wanted.

I paid $170 for the P11 and it was worth every dollar. The pawn shop gave me $200 towards the $240 Mark II.

I know all about the fluff and buff and all that. The feed ramp was polished at the factory because the thing wouldn't even fire unless I jiggled it sideways to move the trigger bar. The factory replaced the frame and polished the feed ramp and I still had failures to feed about every 3rd or 4th round. This was with Federal or Winchester FMJ ammo. Not JHPs.
