Browning Buckmarks
In my search to find a 22 pistol to tide me over until the AA XD conversion comes out I think I have it narrowed down to the Buckmarks.
I think overall they feel better to me and the triggers are nice out of the box. I know they may not last as long as the Rugers but they are also somewhat cheaper and easier to take apart then the new MKIIIs. So please post any thoughts, pics, or concerns with Buckmarks. The Ruger Hunters are pretty sweet looking but $$$. |

Why don't they last as long as the rugers?

They handle abuse pretty well I think. Our GC has one that see thousands of rounds a year (mainly concentrated into 4 big outtings and the the weekly .22 shoots in the winter) and it's held up pretty well. Last time I took it out, i was shooting steel plates a little bigger than 8.5" x 11" at 50 yards with no problem. Personally, I like the way they feel a lot better than the Rugers and I'll concur with the statement that they're easier to take apart.
This is the one the club owns, a little abused, but still runs great:

This is my Dad's Buckmark. I got him the Tactical Solutions barrel for his B-day.
![]() He says it shoots under an inch at 50 yards easy. He can't hold it steady enough to get a real group out of it and he has been putting Remington Golden bullets through it.

I just got one 2-3 weeks ago. I looked at all the pistols in that type/range, and narrowed it down to a Buckmark and a Rugger 22/45. I don't like all black sights, and Ruger does make a fixed sight version with white dots. I was gonna get that until I rented a Buckmark. I like the grip on the Buckmark much better than anything else.
Also, I wasn't that crazy about the disassembly process on the Ruger, and the Ruger's grip still wasn't as nice. I bought Buckmark. I wanted one with a fiber optic sight - but didn't wanna spend $100+ for that model So, I bought a standard model and then got a front fiber optic sight for $29. I put it on myself (just need an allen wrnech) and it is good to go. I adjusted the rear sight to have the red fiber optic dot cover where I want it to hit. I am used to using the sights that way on all of my other guns. Anyway - great little 22
