Benelli SuperNova Shotgun - Thoughts?
I have been looking at a tactical for this - just for the home, nothing more. I have wondered if anyone had used one and could tell me anything about them, specifically how much the recoil is on it. Its something I want my girlfriend to be able to shoot if she has to and wondered if the recoil thing in it was worth it?

I put the recoil reducer in my son's Nova, but we haven't shot it to see if it worked or not.

I've also been thinking about a recoil reducer for my Nova, although the recoil doesn't feel too bad with 2 3/4 shells. I guess it depends on how much you plan on shooting it, for self defense recoil will be the last thiong anyone thinks about. Shooting for an hour or more, or competing in 3 gun and a recoil reducer seems like a good idea.

The big thing is she is like 5 foot tall and really petite. I don't want her to hate practicing with it because it kicks her head of as I am sure everyone understands. Just wondering what anyone thought about them in general and recoil in particular.

study up on different shot loads and power levels, she should be able to handle a 12 ga. without any problems but full house defence loads will kick her butt just like most everyone else's. But once she shoot's it for awhile with the low power loads she will become used to the gun and the recoil won't bother her as much when she moves up to heavier loads. Try starting with 1 oz of number 8 shot with 2& 3/4 dram equiv. of powder, stay away from Fiocchi's they seem to kick harder to me try the remingtons and Winchester loads first. Oh and the Benneli Super Nova seems to be a very nice shotgun only had a chance to put 5 rounds thru one but I liked the way it felt.

I LOVE my supernova. I can shoot the 2.75" all day no problem. I have yet to shoot 3 or 3.5 through it yet, but know for a fact that the 2.75 are like a 20 gauge w/ the recoil reducer. Good luck.

I woulnd't ever let her shoot a defense load, unless it was in a defense situation. She won't notice it at all then.

i'm waiting on the money for my mossy maverick 88 to come through (sold it to my brother in law). i'm planning on putting the Nova in lay a way tomorrow.
its a solid gun, though tbh, i wish i could put an after market telescoping stock on it, i think it will be just fine. its a great gun, good balance and feel to it. havnt shot one, but its a 12 gauge, made by a quality company. i think my local carters country has it for right at $300.. which isnt a bad price.. they only had two up there when i was there last, if they dont have it.. i might consider an 870. cheers
