Wheelgun Misfire?
My first time EVER shooting a 357 (S&W 340). Was shooting some Magtech FMJ I got at the range. Not even half-way through the box - point, click, NOTHING! Unloaded and checked the unspent round and it had a nice dimple where it had been struck. Ran it through again with the same results.
Several more times during the session I swore I had several more non-fires in the middle of the wheel (kind of hard to mistake whether a 357 goes off or not!). Each time when I checked the spent shells (after the first) there were no "live" bullets left. How could that happen? No bang, no nothing, but the bullets gone? fizzled cap and the bullet pee'd out of the barrel? Kind of hard to swallow since the wheelguns are supposed to be foolproof with no failures! Is Magtech really THAT bad of ammo? |

Are you saying you took a live round, placed it into a gun, pulled the trigger with a "click" and no bang, yet the bulet was gone and only an empty shell was left?

I think I had at least 2 if not 3 of these out of a single box! Plus the true misfire. Is this unusual for Magtech ammo? Or any ammo for that matter. I've fired a lot of semi-autos and have NEVER had a single misfire or squib.
This has to be an ammo problem right? This was a rental gun. Jeff, yes that's what I'm saying! |

Sounds like the ammo to me . I have a 340pd and it has never done that to me . One thing to check is the grain of the bullet it says to use nothing less than 120 grain . The manual says fire one shot and then check to see if the other bullets in the chamber has started to unseat it has to do with the reduced weight of the revolver .

I switched from Winchester to Federal primers because ferderal are softer and more reliable. I had bought a case of federal primers last year and I had 6 dead strikes in a SINGLE match! I tossed the rest of the case under the bench and figured I would use them for practice. A buddy of mine bought some from the same lot and also had a few dead strikes.
Anything man made is prone to failiure.

I saved one bullet for the heck of it, but all it says on the base is 357 MAG CBC, and there looks like a big "C" on the primer.
