Other than a KelTec...

I now turn to my fellow firearm know-it-alls!! I'm in the market for a lightweight gun for Summer carry, and the KelTec P3AT is at the top of my list right now. I've got an XD-9SC and a USPc 9mm, but sometimes they just don't work with a t-shirt.

I've read up on the P3AT and know it is a pain to shoot and is not a range gun, and that they sometimes might have a few problems that would need to be worked out to run reliably, but...for the price and size they seem to fit the bill.

What I need to know is, really, what else is out there to consider? I'd like something in similar size and price to the KelTec P3AT. I've seen the newer 9mms that KT has to offer, but they seem a tad too large for pocket carry. No revolvers either...I just don't prefer them. I really don't want to go under .380 in caliber either. If there aren't any other options then that's fine, the decision will be easy!

Thanks!

For the size I dont think you can beat the KelTec but I like the SW Airweight. I dont care for revolvers that much either but I really want one of them.

I dont htink you will find anything beeter than the kel-tec. Also they had some issues earlier in production, but I belive that they have been out for quite a few years, and the issues are now resolved. I know the P3at has some design changes that are supposted to have made it 100%. I will be buying a p3at or p32 this weekend if the price is right.

If you don't mind spending a little extra, like 700 bucks, the Kahr firearms shoot like a dream and hold more than a revolver. I don't have one, but I do have a P11. I love it. It's durable and realiable. Not bad for under 300.

Been thinking about getting one of these for a while, although for about $150 more I can get a new Walther PPK.

I've been pondering the same as King Air, and the Bersa .380 is one of the guns on my possible buy list.

I shot a Sig P232 today and was impressed to say the least! The thing is the size of a Walther PPK but super light, holds 7+1 in .380 and I was dropping 8" steel plates at 10 yards like nothing! A buddy just paid ~$300 for one and I'm completely jealous. Maybe a bit too big for the pocket but it would completely disappear IWB and you'd never know it was there!!!

Bersa 380 is a good one, but there is no comparison with the Kel-Tec when it comes to concealment. Get the Kel-Tec, and try it. If it isn't reliable, sell it.

Thanks, all, for the replies. I've considered the Bersa, and the fact that Buds has them for $215 right now is amazing, but I'm really looking for something that I could slip in my pocket. I'd LOVE a Kahr...fondled one today actually...but it is a bit more than the Missus will let me spend. I appreciate the info on the KT, and whenever I get the tax money I'll probably pick up a P3AT! THANKS!
