Keltec Question

I heard from my gun pusher that Keltec's were notoriously dangerous because lack of safety, and is very oprone to ND and ADs. He specifically instructed not to have a round chambered in pocket.

What are your experiences, ideas, and position?

I think I lost a bit of respect for this guy...

Just like the XDs. Pay attention and you won't hurt yourself.

I have a P11. The trigger pull is supposed to be 8.5 Lbs. I measured closer to 10 and I am letting it breakin before I work on it. The trigger pull lingth is something like 3/4". If you can AD/ND this gun in your pocket you can ND anything. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER.

My guess would be that if there where alot of AD/ND issues with the kel tec someone here or on the keltec forum would have brought it up. Most likely any ND issues were due to someone pocket carrying without a holster. A good pocket holster covers the trigger guard until you get a proper grip and draw it out.

This idiot was trying to tell me that it can AD by jarring in the holster etc etc. Nothing to do with the trigger finger.

Be hard to do. The trigger pull is hard, and a mile long. My wife hasn't had any trouble with hers.

Don't see how this could happen. The KelTec is truly DAO unlike the XD which is really a single action self cocking design. With the KelTec, the trigger actually draws the hammer back on every shot. With a pistol like the XD, the hammer is already set where a pull of the trigger releases a sear.

You'd be more likely to get an AD with an XD instead of a KT due to jarring... but that's unlikely to happen as well.

Longest, heaviest trigger pull of any gun I've owned. The only thing I would be cautious about is adding a trigger shoe, as they make the trigger a good deal wider, which could possibly snag while holstering. Still not likely, but something to think about.

Germs, I have carried my P32 in my front right pocket pretty much every day for the past five years. I have yet to blow my thigh apart!

I carry in an Uncle Mikes #2 pocket holster and always carry with one in the pipe.

As previously noted, the trigger pull is wicked looooooonnnngggg, so no real big problem overall.
