The only really unsafe Kel-Tec that I know of is the P-11 because it is not drop safe until you install a heavier weight firing pin spring from Wolff.
I think so far the "best" .380 JHP is the Corbon DPX. But I think it's illegal here in Tennessee...

I owned a P-11 a few years ago. I struggled with the long trigger pull. Also I was shooting it one day and the slide and barrel slipped right off the frame with a loaded chamber- the assemble pin had fallen out. I called Kel-Tec and they send a slightly larger diameter assembley pin. Quickly sold it back to the place I bought it from.

I carry a P3AT in a nemesis pocket holster made by DeSantis. With one in the chamber, I would never carry the gun in my pocket without a pocket holster. I feel safer that the trigger is covered by holster and it does not slide around in my pocket. This holster holds it in place.

It sounds to me like maybe your "gun pusher" was trying to get you to buy a more exspensive gun!
he would rather talk you into a 4or 500$ gun than a 2 or 300$ gun.

I carried a P32 for 5 yrs, went to a P3AT a year ago. My Dad and Brother have done the same. Never a problem.
I would not hesitate to recommend them for carry. As far as ammo goes, I'd say stick with the FMJ. Most tests I have seen show that HP's don't really expand a great deal in these rounds. Go for the penetration. And less concern about feeding problms. I like Fiocchi ammo (it is a little hard to find sometimes). Not real expensive, the numbers are about as good as they get (velocity/energy) and I've never had one problem with this ammo (1000's of rounds). http://www.fiocchiusa.com/cat_centerfire.php Scroll down to the bottom of that page.

I carry my keltec p32 with the belt clip inside my waistband. there's no way the trigger is going to get pulled in there.
Now mind you, this wasn't on a hard surface.. but I did knock my gun off of the table when I went to move something.. it fell onto the carpet from about 3 ft up.. I just cringed.. nothing happened. I was hoping I didn't get a shot coming out of it lol. I don't know if it has a drop safety or not.. I know california won't allow them to be sold due to something about the drop test.. at least I thought that's what I read. so I was definitely worried. |

I think I have an idea what your dealer is talking about.
Some years back on another board, a Sheriff's deputy (not me or my department!) who carried a P32 in his pocket had the weapon discharge and send a round deep into his thigh. After a lot of bitching and whining about how unsafe Kel-Tec's were, we finally got it out of him that he was carrying his P32 in his pocket without a pocket holster, and with his car keys. The gun fired as he was getting into his car and trying to retrieve the car keys from his pocket. He was properly chastised by the board and he learned a valuable lesson about the use of pocket holsters and the foolishness of carrying other items in the same pocket along with your handgun. Another possibility is the fact that Kel-Tec's have an unblocked internal hammer that can leave a faint impression on the primer when chambering a round. While this can be somewhat disconcerting to the new Kel-Tec shooter, the hammer has so little mass that it cannot detonate the primer by means of an inertial strike--only by means of a spring-loaded strike. This has led some people who see the faint impression on their chambered round to believe their weapon is flawed. Not so. I have carried a number of Kel-Tec's over the years and currently carry a P3AT everday. |

not to hijack the thread but I just purchased a P32 this past weekend. I wanted to go with the P3AT but I kept hearing about the "issues" with this gun. Anyways, I am very excited about my new purchase but i have one small concern. The guys at my local shop told me not to use Cor-bons in it......what do you guys think?
