SHTF Car Trunk Gun HELP!!!
I am planning on buying a dedicated SHTF car trunk gun soon.
Should I get a... Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. The only thing I plan on adding is a shot sidesaddle, a sling, and maybe a light mount system. Trying to keep the price below 500 bucks or so. Load it up with buck shot and have a few slugs handy on the sidesaddle. or AK-47? Most likely I will keep this one stock in a golf club bag with a few extra clips. The choices are cheap so if it gets stolen it will not hurt at much as losing an AR or a Benelli. I am leaning towards the AK right now since it has a longer range. But the shotty can double as a HD gun if necessary. I can't decide! Any suggestions on what I should pick and why?

Mossberg 12ga pump or a SKS.

Mossberg 500.
Their ammo is cheap & common, and with some slugs and maybe some good ghost rings you'll be able to handle targets out to 100 yards which is plenty distance for a trunk gun. The added advantage of having a shotgun as a trunk gun is that in a survival situation the shotgun makes a good multipurpose hunting weapon. Try finding the squirrel after you put a .30 caliber bullet through one.

Krackels... that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for your input. So two for the shotty so far.

I just couldn't see packing a shotty in your trunk being legal...I'm not looking for flamation, LOL.
I see an excessive use of force case coming. Please, enlighten me. |

Depends on where you live I guess...
I wouldn't think twice doing it here in Montana, as it's completely legal and there are many situations out in the country that it come in handy. What's different between a trunk/truck rifle than a trunk/truck shotgun? Matt |
