7mm Mausers
Post up some pics of you Mausers for insparation. I have my great grandfather's mauser that I inherited and I am wanting to do some work to it. Install a good scope new stock (he installed a sporter stock of somesort and it is in rough shape so I'm going to go with somekind of syn. stock due to costs and such). This will be my only scoped bolt action gun I've ever had I've shot with iron sights all my life.
I figured since I had a bolt action sitting around I might was well do some work to it. Thanks.

Is it already drilled and tapped for a scope mount? If not, make sure it is what you want to do first. Those old girls get harder to come by all the time. I am not, however, telling you not to do what you want with your rifle.

I am not drilling and taping the reciever itself. i want to keep it in good condition if'n I ever want to go back. I'm thinking about a stock with a mount on it already. And the rifle already has the 'widearc' bolt handle.

My uncle has an older Ruger No.1 in 7x57 Mauser and it is one of the most pleasant rifles to shoot. It has very little recoil (about like my 6.5mm Swede Mauser) and is very accurate. It is in a mannlicher stock and is drop dead gorgeous and a handy little rifle.
I have never seen another No.1 Ruger like his, but if I did...I might trade something of mine off ot get it. Yes, the 7x57 Mauser is a nice little round. I know my uncle has taken alot of deer and pigs here in Texas with that caliber. - Brickboy240

I have a nice Brazillian 1908 mauser in 7x57 and it is one of the most pleasant rifles to shoot. Light recoil and flat shooting.
