My wife has the same problem, MOST auto slides are to hard for her to work. She carries a .357 because of that. However I have a few friends that have let me borrow guns for her to try. there have been 2 that she can work the slide on very well, the Baby Eagle .40, which has a manual safety as well (extra comfort and piece of mind for some), and *ACK* COUGH* COUGH* the Gock .40, she had no problems with their 4" or 3" versions. However I was able to avoid buyng a Glock by inundating her with "GLOCK KABOOM" stories and pics!

I would NOT take any EAA product over, say, the SIG P6 I suggested. The quality is just not there.

I still say, give the SIG P6/225s a look. For 400 bucks, its a hell of a pistol. My wife loves shooting my P225. To me, 8-9 rounds of Cor Bon 9mm is plenty of protection....with a spare mag in the glovebox. And most importantly...its a SIG!

Also, I handled a few FNP9s that were very nice pieces. For about 369 bucks, you can get the FNP9 compact 9mm that is a 15 shot 9mm with 3 magazines. Not a bad deal, if you want new. Not as slim and trim as the P6 SIG, but a quality piece for the money.

Those Euro Sigs are still at the top of the short list. For the price (+ possibly the $99 factory refurbish) they're a heck of a deal. It all just depends if the Mrs. likes it and can work it well or not.

i'd consider the bersa/firestorm line.

their mini thunder 9mms aren't bad... their .380s are awesome, too. just the 9mm's shorter brother. fun to shoot (not like keltecs), pretty darn accurate out to 10-12 yards at least.

the new .380 CC is supposedly rounder w/ less snags, too.

I'll have to second MCB's choice. Hell, I'm carrying mine today even. Andrea has no problem with shooting it or cycling the slide. Great gun.

This is how we found my wifes carry weapons.

Find a range that has a good selection of rentals. Find the ones that feel good in hands and let her shoot them. My wife shot everthing from a .25 on up. It cost us some money and several Saturdays but she ended up with the SC9.

After about 6 months, shot my Sig 226 (.40). "I want a .40." Back to the range. She ended up with a 239SAS.

Check around you . If you have friends that shoot, check out their handguns, most will let you borrow them if your wife would like to shoot them.
