Gun show question.... Help

Ive been to gun shows but have never purchased a firearm from one, so my question is. What method of payments do they usually take? cash? checks? debit? If they take cash, well crap I dont think my bank lets me take out that large of a withdraw. Any ideas?

For large purchase like firearms, my experience has always been with persnal checks. But I've also noticed more and more dealers taking credit cards without adding surcharge on the price.

For small items like a few mags or cleaning supplies, I do pay cash though.

So I would just bring the check book, credit cards and a few 20 bills.

Thanks for the reply.

One more question, I hear that gun shows have pretty decent prices on reloads. Should I look for any in particular brands? and what would be a good price in bulk (1000) for 45 acp? I prefer brass.

I've used credit cards for both pistols I've bought at a gun show. In both cases, the dealer didn't charge a surcharge.

Most ATMs I've used limit a withdrawal to $200 but you usually can do multiple withdrawals -- you just have to re-insert the card, enter your PIN, etc. I've done that in the past; granted, some banks may not allow that so to minimize theft when someone ATM card is stolen.

I think ammo selections, especially on reloads, vary from area to area. In my area gun shows, I don't see reloads too often. Most sell either factory ammo or small scale "garage operation" reloads.

The only reputable reloads on the market that I know of these days are Georgia Arms and Ultramax. 1K rds of GA .45 ACP 230 gr FMJ would run you $220 plus shipping; and Ultramax can be had for $200 plus shipping. So if you can get them at the show in that price range its probably good deal.

As for other "garage brand" reloads, I personally tend to stay way, way away from them.

I second that! Be very careful when it comes to reloads. I've seen some real crap being sold at gun shows, e.g. cracked brass, improperly seated bullets, etc.

Miwall will have a huge booth.
Their stuff shoots just fine.

I'll help you carry if you help me.

I always hit the Miwall booth, really that's about the only reason I go to gunshows anymore is for the cheap ammo. Everything else is over priced.

Last time I bought ammo from Miwall 500 rounds of 45ACP was roughly $90.... As a side note 500 rounds of .223 was also $90. These were factory reloads and I've never had any problems with them in either caliber.

I can find a 9 SC or a .40 SC in DFW area for sale. All dealers tell me it will be a couple months before they have them back in stock. We have gun shows this weekend and next weekend. I thought about checking them out but if they are over priced whats the point?

The only thing I can find new is the .45 compact 4" not sure thats what i want because I am looking for CC.
