FN Hi-Power Sight Upgrade

i have a FN Browning Hi-Power its marked:

FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GURRE
HERSTAL - BELGIQUE

Brownings' Patent Depose

and on the other side

POLICIA PROV.BS.AIRES-61

SN: 00167

so far i have added a extended mag release, extending safty, extended slide lock, a wide combat trigger, and a sweet trigger job, i had the barrel re-crowned and after i install sights i will have it teflon coated

i orderd some "browning hi power" trijicon tritium sights. the front sight wont work. on this pistol the front sight post is staked and the replacement i bought was the slot kind like on the xd.

i think 1911 sights will work on it.....not sure though.

what do you guys think???

What you have is a Belgian made Hi-Power that was made on a contract with the Argentine govt. and was used asa police pistol in Buenes Aires - the capital city of Argentina. I have a 1953 Colt 1911 that has the same markings. Strange, huh?

I'd say contact Stephen Camp - he should be able to help you with sights for your HP. Cylinder & Slide might also have sights that will work.

My Hi-Power is an Isralei contract piece and has dovetailed front and rear sights. Yours has a staked front sight and is much earlier.

Great shooters, aren't they? I really beleive the Hi-power is the finest shooting hi-cap 9mm going.

I have one of the FN hi-powers as well... mine was issued to the West German Police Force in the 50's... They were issued a new weapon and sold these in the 60s when Phillip Galls purchased and sold them in the early 70s. Mine was sold with the leather German holster and two mags.... all of which I have.

No, I have a 1911 that has "Policia de la Provincia De Buenes Aires" on the slide. It says Sistema Colt on the other side.

Apparently, the Argentines used the Hi-Power and the M1911 for their military and police forces.

My Hi-Power onlt says "Fabrique Nationlale Herstal Belgium" on the slide and has "9mm NATO" on the barrel that is visible in the ejection port. Other than the serial no. on the barrel, slide and frame, these are it's only markings.
