Yeah - that MG really "kisked a*s"! Best damn MG to come out of WW2, by far.....

I don't think they have changed the MG3 much from it's MG42 version except for the caliber. The rate of fire is impressive.

It is a mystery to me why the US didn't just adapt the MG34 like the Germans did.

The G-36 is what happens when knowledgable people get a hold of a AR-18, and adapt it to field use by an army that has to deal with ambidextrous operators.
What is the status of the "Son of G-36" for US Army use?

I recall a couple of radical Serbs in a Yugo using AKs to attack some German soliders hanging around a Leopard 2 tank. The Germans swiss cheesed the dudes with small arms fire.

The Luftwaffe dudes in N.M. (or AZ?) have those Tornado planes with the big 27mm Mauser guns. I think it is cool when the N.M. sun is painted on their tail planes.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

I think you are referring to this one?

2 serbs initiated the attack, 1 crawled away after the gun smoke cleared. They must've mistaken the German KFOR for the UN blue helmet chickens....

Its slower than the original MG42 by 35%.....the only thing that shoots faster than a '42 is a multi barrel......

I was under the impression the MG-3 was more MG-34 than MG-42 because a lot of what went into the MG-42 came from the need to mass produce quickly. I've noticed many weapons have to be slowed down, to either save it from itself, or because past 1000 rpm, 'experts' think that it is a waste.

MG34.......lots of machined parts, MG42 lots of those machined parts are stamped. That means less weight, less weight means faster cycle speed, modified action to increase RPM, increased RPM means frequent barrel changes, which means a 'simplefied' method.........MG34/42 set the standard for the 'modern' MGs....we still can't build one that doesn't weigh a ton or isn't too complicated..

I'd imagine they borrowed what was best from both for the current gun.

Stil mystified by why the USA Army didn't 'borrow' it after the war. We had no such issues with V2s, many of the smaller missles, submarines, motorcycles, and jet planes.
Currently we are using all kinds of German stuff, like tank main guns, and soon the XM-8 rifle.

I heard that in the old cold war days, American soldiers could spend a weekend shooting all kinds of German guns, and having a good old time, and get a fancy medal thing for their Class A uniform. There was also a much harder to get one that involved a lot of physical challenges, my drill sgt in mechanic shool had it.

I thought that program had been suspended/cancelled in 2005?
