What causes double feed?
Does anyone know what are the reasons that cause a double feed?

Excluding any manufacturer deffect and bad design for the pistols that I own I have had FTF, Double Feed, and FTE.. So when someone say that their pistol never does this is a farse stuff happens. With that said I can tell you that from my experience it was the lube..
After cleaning I tend to let the parts soak in oil..I’m learning that you only need to grease certain areas and keep many area dry. I came to this problem a few weeks ago with my CZ75B which was double feeding and engaging the mag latch. Which dropped the mag after a shot.. After drying the parts I went to the range again and nothing. It perform perfectly.. My $0.20 hope this helps.. I’m a newbie so what do I know..ehehe |

From the quality of your post, bobsmyuncle, I think you know more than you are willing to admit. Good advice!

Double feeds are due to extractor malfunctions.

Generally speaking they are. The original post gave no indication as to what kind of pistol, when and how the malfunctions are occuring.

mullanman - I contend that lacking knowledge as to ..."what kind of pistol, when and how the malfunctions are occuring." it would therefore be inappropriate to proffer such a blunt and finite diagnosis.

A bad magazine can often be the cause of this as well.
