what else in the xd class??
went out today and shot 300 rounds through some other guns that i am considering buying before i buy the XD.
i shot (all in 9mm) Glock (G19 i think) sig p226 smith M&P compact baretta 92 right off the bat i put two mags through the beretta and decided it was not for me. the Glock was nice but finger grooves were not in the right place and just didn't feel right for me. the smith was great but i which i wasn't a compact because my pinky didn't fit on th gun so i would like to find a full size to shoot. but WOW the sig was amazing at seven yards i could get several consistently in the middle ring. (I'm new to pistols so can get groupings yet) but this thing was amazing. my question is, are there any other guns i need to try to shoot before making the decision between the sig and the XD?? thanks alot!! (p.s. sig are expensive.)

What about the M&P in the not-so-compact form? And H&K...

well, you absolutely will not be disappointed with the Sig, but...
if it were me, and I had a budget big enough for the Sig, I'd buy the XD and use the change to buy LOTS of ammo....

Buy the XD - you'll like it. That being said, the FNP-9 is a similarly priced polymer pistol and the Walther P99 is a bit more. Other than that, you seem to have the list down pat. Maybe the 24/7 from Taurus but I don't do Taurus, so that wouldn't be on my list of options.

thanks for all the help so far i love the design and everything about the XD but if it just doesn't feel right compared to another gun i have to go with what feels best. thanks for all the input so far.

I would also give the PX-4 a whirl, and that FNP. If those two were available when I got my XD-40 in Aug. 05, I may be spending alot more of my time on a different forum. You may even want to wait until after the Shot Show, some new and improved items may be on the near horizon.
Forgot the H&K USP Compact, right there with the Sig in price and quality.

I guess you could also look at the new ruger P95. It has rails and a polymer frame.
