Check your Firearm Insurance coverage

As I am about done collecting guns for awhile (yeah, right), I thought I should confirm insurance coverage. Turns out my homeowners insurance specifically exclude all firearms and will not even underwrite separate rider. I suspect most insurance companies exclude firearms coverage.

So I checked with NRA and ended up getting endorsed ArmsCare insurance - about $150 per year to cover about $10K worth of firearms, which seems like a pretty good deal. Just thought I'd pass that along.

They also offer Self-Defensive, Excess Liability, and Firearms Collection (for those of you who really have $$ tied up in firearms).

Doesn't a certain amount of firearms insurance come with your NRA membership?

Great post, I've never really checked my home insurance. I guess I was under the impression that it would, considering we have a flat replacement amount.

I think tomorrow the insurance man is getting a call. Great information and good reminder to check.

I went with the Armscare as well. I really don't ever want to loose any of my guns but if they do get lost I would like to be able to get them replaced quickly.

Back in 2001 it was $400 bucks worth of coverage. I dropped my NRA membership since in favor of actual pro-gun groups like GOA and JPFO.

This is something to look into. My home owners policy only covers upto $2,000 on firearms. You can purchase additional blocks of $1,000 for $10.00 a year upto $10,000 total. Cheaper than the NRA add on insurance, but it tops out.

There are several specialty companies that insure proerty (like expensive jewlery, furs, antiques ect. ect.) that offer personal property insurance at very discounted rates for people getting block of 10k, 50, 100k ect. ect....

Don't assume your 'home owners' insurance covers everything in your home. Jewlery also tops out around 2-5k on most policies as well.

I would appreciate that. I'm with them too, and am about to become a 1st home owner.
