Looking to get an inexpensive Turkey/duck hunting shotgun

Howdy all-

The future brother in law finally sealed my fate by buying me some turkey
loads for Christmas. Thing is, I don't have a shotgun to use them in. I'm thinking something along the lines of a Mossberg Maverick, like this:
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/42607

24" bbl
3" chamber (means I can use anything up to 3", right?)
Synthetic stock

Anything I should be looking for in a decent turkey/duck gun? I'm not looking for uber tacti-cool, just something I can use to bag me some turkey!

Personally I'm partial to the Remington 870. It's proven, and has been around long enough that their are tons of upgrade options for it. You can get the 28" bbl for hunting and an 18" bbl to use for home defense purposes.

They run a bit more than your example, but not by much. I see them in Big 5 adds quite often for a under $300.

That's just my opinion though. When buying any gun I try to get as much versatility out of it as possible.

3 things you for sure need on a turkey gun:

Screw-in choke tubes with extra-full or turkey choke tube.
3.5" chamber
Good sights or optics
.
