Just picked this home defenseshot gun up from Gander for $179. 12 gage, 5 round mag (after you remove the NYS 2 round limiter), 3" receiver. All black synthic stock and slider on two rails (much like the 870) with chrome lined barrel.
Nice - haven't shot it yet (a bit too cold and muddy to go out to the range) but it breaks down easily and should be a good shooter. Here's the link to the picture http://www.charlesdaly.com/images/fi...20Tactical.jpg

Fairly inexpensive Turk production copy of the 870. Daly has been around for a few years - mostly semi pistols and wheel guns.

I have a Charles Daly semi auto...picked it up at Walmart for a reasonable price. (Don't recall how much, but it was reasonable...maybe $300)

Broke it down and cleaned it up last night - really easy to diassemble and reassemble. Man, they sure soak it in oil before they ship it!

just get the real deal, 870 is about 270 bucks. Unless I'm buying a .22 I refuse to buy a gun from walmart, For a few very good reasons. one being that I was looking for an 870, but they were out. The guy then tries to tell me "these charles Daly's are great, they are better than benellis!"
now when I heard this i was thinking two things: Does he think I'm that stupid!? or does he actually think this? either way, he was Full of ****. If I am buying a gun for my kid, i'd get a cheaper gun, but if its for somethng like home defense, im gonna get the real deal |

Is the Daly better or the same as an 870 or a 500? Hell no! I know that - but it should fill the bill as a backup - just in case - weapon if I ever need it. And I haven't locked a bunch of cash up in it for occasional use. My thinking is, as long as it's a reliable, dependable weapon and will stop anyone who is intent on doing me or mine harm, it fills the bill. Do I need a $1,500 gun to stop someone like that? IMO, I don't believe so - since the $1,500 gun won't shoot any better than the $179 gun at the 12 - 15 foot range you're operating in inside the house. 12 gage 00 buck at that range will do the job coming from a Daly, a Benelli, a Franchi, or an Uberti - but these cost lots more than the first named. Since you're going to lose the weapon in the event of use (it will be taken for "evidence" for the grand jury investigation and the inevitable civil trial you'll experience, brought by the BGs family/"estate" and authored by some bottom feeder lawyer in an effort to cash in on the unfortunate situation), why lose a $1,500 gun?

OK - the weather finally broke enough to get it out to the range.
After a few "teething" problems (mostly cartridge feed and lock-up), got it running. Fedd a full tube (5, 2 3/4" heavy field load Win Super X shells) through it. Reloaded and feed a second set through it. No problems after that (except my shoulder hurt like hell - forgot just how much fun it was to shoot a shotgun.... It's now sitting in the closet with 3 rounds in the tube on safty. With the 18 1/2" barrel and 5 shot tube, it's a neat little "last ditch" defence gun. I still prefer the Taurus PT111 Pro 9 mm. Still have some doubts about using it to clear the house - don't really like to use something that comes around the corner before I do.....
