What to do?

I have the chance to pick up a Winchester Model 94 30-30 (used) for about $300 online. It is from a reputable dealer, but no pics or condition are listed other than 'clean'. As you all may know, these rifles are no longer made, and I've wanted one as long as I can remember. Problem is, I am broke now, working part time and barely paying my bills. I can go in the hole to get this gun, but my inner adult says "HELL NO!" To make it worse, my local shop, where I got my XDs, has a couple of these rifles as well, priced over $600! So, should I just, heh, bite the bullet and drop the $300 or listen to my conscience and move on?

First things first, don't put yourself into debt buying a firearm. Pay your bills first, there will be other good deals later on.

Yeah, I hear that, but of course my fear is I will lose out and regret not jumping on this when I had the chance. Good advice-thanks.

take it from someone who learned the hard way. Bills before guns.... unless you don't have any ammo..... then one box.

The money you will save now will NOT outweigh the money you could possibly lose by going into debt...... wait on the rifle, there are plenty more out there.

Just to be the devil's advocate:

Why not go into a little debt; buy the weapon, and if you get in a bind with the debt, sell it at a profit? ($500 to the store selling them for 6?)

That would be my plan of attack.

If that were reasonable, which its not, then the online retailer would sell it for more money. After shipping and transfer fee's, it would probably not get any profit at all. Also, all the gun shops near me barely give you anything for your used guns. Remember also that he doesn't have pictures of the firearm, just what the retailer has said as "clean," so really, he doesn't know much about its actual condition.

To the original poster, don't risk spending more money and having to pay penalty fee's and interest rates off with a now higher principle than before.
