My Homemade P2000sk Mag Spacer for P2000/USPc mags
For a year and a half I wanted a P2000 as my 21st birthday celebration. When my 21st was getting near, my dealer had no .40 P2000 V2s so I jumped on a good deal I found on GunBroker for a P2000sk.
My thoughts were three fold. Firstly, I was happy that I would be getting the better gun for concealment. Secondly, I was sad that the gun was going to be slightly less enjoyable to shoot. Lastly, I was very upset that I had bought 5 Klintonian mags and 3 hi-cap mags for the P2000 .40 that I "knew" I was going to get. 3 days before receiving the SK, I started thinking of ways I could make a homemade mag spacer. And after three days of messing with material and manufacturing ideas, I bought all of my materials and came out with this: ![]() ![]() ![]() This last picture shows the difference between my father's .40 P2000 V2 (grrrr) and my .40 P2000sk V2. Also, the factory mags for each are shown to the right. ![]() I have made 3 so far. The first was hideous, the second is shown in the pictures, and the third is better than the rest but is being painted. Things I'm looking to perfect: - I want the colors to match. They match better than the pictures show, because the P2000 reflects light much more than the flat black paint on the mag spacer. - I want the fit to look better. The 3rd one looks to be near perfect. - Any other problems that you guys can see? All in all, I'm very happy. I consider this a pretty significant upgrade in that I've made this gun more comfortable for range use and also more practical for home protection while not sacrificing the ability to conceal it easily and comfortably. If only HK would start making these...

OK, now the real questions...
How did you make them? What did you use for material? How sturdy are they? And can you make some for my .40 XD mags !!! Please let us know, I need some bad and wouldnt mind making my own since I only need them for IDPA and practice.

Mav, those look great. I don't remember you ever posting pics of that P2kSK before either.... sexy. I can't see anything wrong with your design from the pics. They look great.

Rule 1: Always post pictures.
Rule 1b: Don't post pictures if you can't post pictures of the whole construction project. Mav, go through the process showing how you made them, one pic at a time. It will turn you into a bigger celebrity than you are. You were right, that does look good. You still haven't let me know how she shoots though, dammit.

Wait, I retract my comments. I found something to complain about. The front and back are not stippled or anything. Texture prototype 4.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not sure if I want to disclose the "recipe" just yet for a couple reasons. The first one is because I'm thinking about selling these, and secondly because I have not perfected or tested these in live fire so I'm not sure if they'll hold up to any stresses that shooting will put on them. I don't want to tell you how to make them, have 100 people go buy the materials to do it, and then find out that it the design won't last.
I think the way I'm going to do it is to make a video of how to make them, including all materials, and then just say "go make them by yourself, but if you want, I'll make some and sell some to you for $XX with an XX guarantee." I'd only be able to make mag spacers for the P2000sk and the XD sub (but would have to use Overkill's XD sub for it) since those are the only two "mag spaceable" guns I have access to. What other guns have smaller versions that accept the bigger mags? I know the USP has the 16 rounder "Jet Funnel" mags... what about smaller 1911s?

Dont care how you go about it... but put me down to buy the first strings of the ones for the SC 40... I need them right away. As long as they are reasonably cheaper than the ones you can buy online, you will make some $$$. Sign me up, now go and start making me some trial ones...

I see pistol-gear sells some for the XD-sub for $10.95 that look better than what I've done. I wouldn't really do mine for less than $20 because they take about 2 hours of time and cost about $5 each in supplies.
Looks like I'll be making a video soon Coastemac, the pistol gear site for the mag spacer is: http://pistolgear.com/proddetail.php?prod=10AGA That would be your best bet, because Overkill and I live about 150 miles apart so I wouldn't be able to get my hands on his XD-sub for a long while.
