Glock 20 Questions

Anybody own one? How's the recoil management, accuracy, etc. I picked one up in the gun shop and it fit my hand well.

Nikon!!!! Where you at?? I have owned 3 glocks. I like them for what they were for. The gun is proven and very reliable. Some are accurate, some are OK. The Glock is a great pistol if it fits you. The XD fits me so that is what I use.

I was more interested in the particularities of the 20. The 10 millimeter behaves differently from other cartridges and the recoil is reportedly stiff. I understand, however, that the Glock handles the recoil the best of any of the 10 mils out there.

Well if you really want to know I shot one about a month ago. Ammo was Win 180 silvertips.
The gun was accurate and had recol in comparision to some light loads in a .45. The Glock 20 has a nice heavy slide and that combined with its geometry lets it push the recoil straight back instead of up and back. Followup shots were very easy and it felt like the gun could use more potent ammo and still function well.

By the way I thought it was like 20 Questions. Not Glock 20,questions. As if you had 20 questions about Glocks.

Most of the factory 10mm loads are about like shooting 40s&w.To really
feel what real 10mm is supposed to be like load your own or buy some
double tap ammo.Get the variety pack to see what you like.

Even with real 10mm I found the recoil to be managable.
The recoil is not as stout as a colt in 10mm.I prefer the 180 gr goldots.

Accuracy even with blaster grade ammo is good.

Thanks. You've convinced me. I think I'm going to get one this month.

Maybe I should come up with 19 more questions:

2. It sure is ugly. Is it hard to live with?

3. Glocka block?

4. Has anyone actually shot a bear with one?

5. What's the best bullet weight for self defense?

6. Why has the round not become more popular?

7. Does anyone reload them?

8. Can you stand another 12 questions?

I ran a few rounds downrange through my G20 yesterday, using my reloads. I'm loading @ just about the max load for 180gr. bullets, using AA#7 powder. I'm using a 22# recoil spring (the G20 comes with a 17# spring), and the brass was still being ejected 12-15'. I'll probably go with a 24# spring. Accuracy is terrific. Recoil is a little snappier than with .45ACP, but totally manageable. I really like the G20. I'm shooting mine scoped with a red dot. Was hitting fairly small targets @ 100 yds. off the bench.

I haven't done any kind of marketing surveys, so I really can't answer the question as to why the 10mm isn't more popular. Just a wild guess is that there are other, more common rounds that do very well for plinking, target shooting competition, IDPA, etc., and are probably superior to the 10mm for s.d.

I would use my G20 for s.d., if I happened to have it nearby when needed, but don't carry it or depend on it for s.d. With true high-performance 10mm loads, follow-up shots aren't as quick as .45ACP or other rounds and overpenetration MIGHT be a problem.

I've never shot a bear, but would not want to be caught in Griz country with just a 10mm. Would probably do fine on a blackie, though. Lots of people deer hunt with 10mm.
