Which one to get?
I'm currently serving in the military and I'm planning on joining the local sheriffs department here. I was just wondering what ya'll would suggest for a duty weapon and holster. Right now I'm looking at the XD, Sig Pro, P4, and S&W MP as possible choices. So what are your thoughts? Thanks.

They're all nice guns. I personally want a Beretta Px4; but I am honestly speaking from my behind here with respect to a recommendation. I'm not LEO (nor a mall ninja) and I haven't shot one yet. I've looked at them, did a field strip on one, but that's it. I own a Beretta 92F and love the gun.

I know the XD is one of the choices but I'm unsure where else they will let us carry. I'm not too worried about it, worse case I have to pick the XD. I was just wondering what all others thought about these choices. I have another question, what would be a good duty holster? I would assume they would want us to have a retention holster. And if not I want one anyways.

I'd go with the Sig or the XD, and I really like the 6280 Safariland hooded holster.

Hey dood4s from one Deputy to another the best one is the one that makes you feel right. Glock, XD, Sig, H&K any reputable gun manufacturer is going to give you a quality handgun. It all depends on the features you want and how it fits in your hand.
I carry a Glock 31 .357 sig for Duty use and carry it in a Safariland 6360 Holster It’s the new ALS (Auto Locking System) holster and I love it. Once again same with the holster it be best if you can see the holsters and find the one that works for you. I will say DO NOT buy a gun grabber POS. Get a holster that will give you some type of security ie…Level II or above. In my 13 years on the streets I’ve been in more fights than quick draw fights. It really is a good sense of security. And always remember STAY FROSTY……Most important thing to remember like Joe Dirt said….Rule #1….I’m #1…get yourself and your fellow peeps home safely and the rest of it, is gravy…. P.S. Before everyone gets to hating, I have purchased an XD-45 Service model also.
