I have a friend who is offering me a 24" Mossberg 835 Ultra Mag Camo (not sure which pattern yet) with chokes and Tru-Glow sights for $375. Is this a good deal? I am unsure of the condition but I will get to see it this evening.

I'm not sure if this is the shotgun for me. What I want is a shotgun that I can use for home defense, Skeet shooting, and possibly some dove hunting and possibly other small game. Would the 835 do all of those jobs and more? Also would it be possible to get an ajustable M4 type pistol grip stock in the camo pattern if I wanted to add that in the future? This will be my first Shotgun so I want to make sure it will do the jobs I need it for.

Sounds a little high to me. I just picked one up off of gunbroker and mine was the 24" ported barrel with the fiber optic sight for $135.00

All told with shipping and ffl fee it was $165.00 or so. It did come with the turkey choke, I got two more off of ebay for $25.00 shipped.

So I'd say he's a little on the higher side. With the 24" I don't think it would be the absolute best home defense gun but they are great shooters.
