New spotting scope

Just took my new spotting scope out for a try. It does good at 100yds .22 cal holes on black bullseye. I had no problem seeing the holes even after it started to get dark. I'll be using it on the 30th at my first service rifle match.

Sounds like a great scope, how does it do past 300 yards? And how much did you pay for it? I'm looking to pick one up first part of next month. I have narrowed the purchase to Bushnell Elite or Nikon for a good middle of the road spotting scope.

Usually Nikkons are a bit higher than middle of the road in quality (and in price).

I haven't tried it past 100yds. I'm planning on taking it out this weekend and try it at 200yds, thats as far as our range goes. Paid 149.95 shipping included. I was going to get a Konus 80mm, I posted on an optics forum and was told to try the Celestron instead. Had a friend order a Konus this week but haven't had a chance to compare the quality.

I have a Kowa 50X80. I can watch the bullet hit the target at 300 metters.

Nice. I'm haven't tried long distance competition, yet so I didn't want to make a large expense for something that I'm not sure I'll realy get into. Maybe once I get hooked on longdistance shooting, and get a nice tricked out varmint type AR, or better yet a bolt action .308, I'll upgrade to a higher quality scope.
