Question SA Enhanced Micro Pistol

I will be looking for a smaller gun in a couple months and saw the EMP on the springfield website. I was hoping someone here might have had a chance to shoot one or know if they are even out yet and what kind of price they are going to be starting around. Hopefully it is as good of a pistol as they are marketing it to be. Thanks all.

Are they actually in production yet? I haven't seen any in gun shops.

Nice looking pistol and neat idea for a CCW piece but at $1253 I will have to settle for just fondling one in a gun shop. Maybe after a while the price will come down.

$1200 isn't too bad if it's a quality 1911.... You guys are all just spoiled by the $500 price tag on these perfect machines we all call XD's.

That's dissapointing to hear. I got excited when I saw the first mention fo it because I've been casually looking for a small 9mm and I've been nothing but satisfied with my XD.

Maybe it'll drop after they gouge the early adopters enough.

Anyone else notice that as the size of the 1911 shrinks, the price goes the opposite direction?

Also, do some research...as the SIZE of the 1911 goes smaller...so does its reliability. Commander size is really as far small as anyone should go with the 45ACP 1911 styled pistol. Isn't reliability the first concearn for everyone wanting a CCW pistol? Why take chances with a 1200-1400 dollar stubby 1911 that has been proven to be very iffy in the reilability area.

Oh sure, they're pretty and neat and very small and feel really really good in the hand, while you're holding it at the gun counter in the store. Thats what "sold" me on the Colt Officer's Model I used to own. I dumped all sorts of Wilson and other aftermarket parts into the thing and in the end, I just could not trust it entirely. Then there was the sharp muzzle flip from the stubby thing...a smaller 1911 is not NEARLY as fun to shoot as the 4 or 5 inchers...not at all.

Check the 1911 discussion boards...apparently, I was not the only one that expereinced unreliability out of the smaller 1911s. It has something to do with the mechanics of the 1911 design and the 45ACP round to begin with. Several smiths on m1911.org explained it better than I could. Their suggestions were go no smaller than a Commander and you'll have less headaches, overall.

I'd really, really re-think the super small 1911 idea.

but the frame has been redesigned so it is not really a 45ACP 1911
