Question If not an XD, then.....?

Let me start off by saying I love my XD-9 Service, and shoot it all the time. That's why I so badly want a .45ACP Tactical. Problem is, I can't find one anywhere, and I'm too impatient to wait months on a backorder list. Yes, I know there are mail order outfits with this gun in stock, but an FFL transfer (at least where I am) is not cost effective or practical. Sooooo, I wonder if there is (gasp!) another .45ACP you all would buy if given the choice. I'm not sure I can swing the $$ for a 1911, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. Any suggestions? TIA.

I just bought (sent payment that is, it will be coming soon) a 1911 today to compliment my XD-9. I did a lot of research and determined that the guns I'm interested in are SIG's and 1911's. The 1911 stole my heart with the trigger pull.

Yeah, a guy let me shoot his Colt 1911 the other day, and was it nice! That's what got me on the .45 kick, and now it's about all I think about. I'd hold off if I thought the XD demand might slacken, but that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

I know exactly how you feel. I couldnt stop thinking about 1911's so I just ended my suffering today and bought what I wanted.

One of my first guns was a Ruger P90. It is a tank that will last forever. Mine was suprisingly accurate and was easy to strip and clean. Can you tell I miss it?

you could look at the .45 ACP Glocks. Glock 21. I didn't like it, grip was too fat, so I went with an XD.

glocks are reliable and easy to get parts for, IF you like the grip angle on em. (i prefer XD angle too, a little more 'point n shoot')

I was going to suggest a Sig P220, however, with all of the trash talking in a separate thread I am now reluctant to. While not all that common, the EAA Witness Match Elite in 45ACP seem a bit intriguing, both from a feature and a price perspective.

Yeah, 'cept one main reason I got my XD in the first place was so as not to buy a Glock; I absolutely agree with you about the grip angle. I'm sure they're fine and all, I just don't want one.
