Disappointing hand gun purchases.....

My boss and his gf bought CCW guns this past weekend. A Taurus .25 and a Beretta .32 TomKat.

The Taurus....hers....... the magazine can't load more than 4 rounds. Any more than that, and it holds them at a strange angle that won't feed. AND the "wood" grips cracked after about 20 rounds. Taurus said to send it back, and they will replace the grips, and look over the gun and magazine. 1 day old and just problems.

The Beretta....his....trigger is/feels clicky??? Almost like it has detents cut into it. Hopefully it'll get smoother after some more rounds. I'll bet he sells this soon........I told him to get the KelTec 380, but he said it was too small. I said grip extension.......he didn't listen

Personally, I haven't bought a gun I was disappointed in.
However, last December, I went gun shopping with a buddy and a friend of his.

My buddy bought a Skyy for his girlfriend. I tried to talk her into a S&W airweight revolver for carry, but she insisted on the Skyy. She shot it a few times, it does not function properly and she hates the way it handles/recoils.

The same day my buddies friend bought a Jiminez (WTF?). I told him he would regret throwing away that $150...sure enough....that gun got shot less that 50 rounds. So many function problems.

Why-o-why do people insist on wasting money on cheap $h!t guns then bitch about it? I would rather own one really good gun, than 10 pieces of $h!t!

While I am ranting....Why is it your non-gunner friends invite you to go gun shopping with them and then end up listening to the "expert" at the gun counter over you? I have pretty much given up on helping anyone shop for a gun unless I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they will heed my advice! (rant over.)

I am certainly not an expert, but that is why I do research on the subjects that I am interested in.

I honestly would've thought the Beretta and Taurus were better quality than the Kel Tec, but maybe I am wrong.

We saw the Kel Tec at our CCW class as a backup weapon for a DNR officer. I'd get it for a BUG before anything else.

I have two handguns that I was disappointed with after shooting them for the first time after purchase and break-in: my 9mm Browning Hi-Power Practical and my Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Black Stainless. Both had horrible triggers and pathetic accuracy. Both have become "project guns" (thanks in large part to the availability of aftermarket parts and the ability to custom load ammo for them). My only current complaints for the Hi-Power is the trigger reset (which is a minor inconvenience), while the Black Stainless is still somewhat quirky in the accuracy department (maybe it isn't fair for me to try to compare it to my 20-some year old Gold Cup). Maybe it was a case of my expectations being too high.

I've never been unhappy with a gun I've purchased.

But that being said I would never buy some cheap ass gun. I've owned taurus's, xd's, marlin's, remington, bersa's and such and never had a real problem.

I personally think cheaper guns will have a higher rate of lemons but even cheap guns can be wonderful firearms.

I know people that think bersa's are a cheap piece of cr*p, but I own two and they are awesome guns.

Hi Point 9mm. Around $120. Goes bang every time you shoot it and damn accurate. If you're looking for cheap, it's the only way to go.

Friends don't let friends buy mouseguns.

JMHO, but anything less than a 9mm with some JHPs won't make it for PP. Sure the BG may eventually die, uh I mean stop, but not quickly enought to stop an attack to suit my purposes.

I haven't been unhappy with a gun yet; hopefully I never will be. That said, my friend bought a .22lr Marlin 995 that I didn't really like, but I've only shot it once, so I guess I can't pass judgement yet. I wanted him to go with a 10/22, but he wanted the 995 for $150ish, it came with a scope...

I have to admit that a mouse gun is on my list for the next year or so...Walther PPK/S in .380, great looking gun that should conceal easily in the summertime...

Love the Walther's. I just don't think I would use a 380 to protect myself or my wife. Then again, I have always only carried a .45 so I obviously am not the most unbiased person on this subject.
