Any kind of holster for a Jennings .380
I know these are cheapy guns, but I couldn't avoid picking one up for the price. I've been searching a little and can't seem to find a holster of any kind for this little jewel(?) My wife is going to carry it in pocket book, that is if it passes the range test later this week!

Must...resist.....be....nice......
OK, seriously, before I would have your wife use it as her carry gun take it out to the range and shoot it. My standard is that if it won't shoot 500 rounds in a row minimum without a malfunction it doesn't qualify as a carry gun regardless of how little (or much) I paid for it. I will guarantee you that if you have a weapon that jams, misfires, pukes on itself, whatever, once in every 500 rounds it will absolutely, without fail do just that the one time you really need it.

I have numerous "protection pieces", the thing I like to do is have a holster for them reguardless how much or how little they cost. I know the reliabilty of these guns aren't favorable; you get what you pay for.
This firearm isn't her only means of protection, just a "cheap addition", and as I stated earlier, it will be put through a "vigorous" range test before being considered reliable. Not trying to open a can of worms here, just looking to get a cheap holster for a cheap gun. Besides, I know people who spend a whole lot more than I did on "name brand" firearms that can't make it through 200rds. I am in agreeance with you, Neomet, any firearm has to pass a certain criteria before being considered a carry piece. I just like to have alot of "backups"! |

You could grind it into bits and use a plastic bag.

Wanna learn something interesting about your Jennings? Read this article, learn a little history and see just how "dependable" it really is...

There are many methods of carrying small pistols. If she is going to use a hand bag I would consider one of the Holster purses offered by several companies.
http://www.usgalco.com/Women.asp http://www.shado.com/ These are good quality items with good features. Just remember Women can be hard to please.

I know they are cheap, non-reliable, and I don't intend on depending on it for anything. If the gun functions properly during a "range test", my wife will stow it in her purse. That is not the only firearm she will be carrying, the gun with the dependablity status is a S&W 9mm. It is inteded to be a backup, that will probably never be used because I don't have alot of faith that it will make it through 100rds. without puking.
Interesting article, coastemac, like I said I don't intend to depend on it, I don't beleive you have to spend a fortune on a gun for it to be good, but I don't put alot of faith in crap either. We saw this at a gun show for next to nothing and figured we'd give a try. I like the Bersa thunders personally, as far as inexpensive small handguns are concerned. This purchase was is a trial run, and MY wife and I don't bet the house on this gun, just a "bargain box trial". |

Well, thank you for reading the article I provided... I owned a Jennings once, it was my first purchased firearm. It was a Jennings Nine and it worked at the range for several hundred rounds before breaking a piece that "wasn't heat tempered properly" according to the helpful person on the phone of their service dept. Because it had already broke, I asked her if she could just send me the parts, which she did. When I received the parts in the mail, there was a ton of parts. They sent me everything that could ever break on the gun. I tore it apart as far as it could be torn and replaced each part myself, learned a lot about how a pistol works, and the rest is history. I was 21 and really didnt know better, at least the only direction I could go is up...
Sorry for rambling everyone, just wanted slow ride to know that I could relate in a way, and learned from it.

I appreciate the info., this gun will probably not see alot of action. My wife bought it on a whim at an area gun show. For the price, it wasn't a bad snag, but like I mentioned we are going to the range on thurs. when I get off work (I'm a 3rd shifter) and I don't see it making it past 50rds. The size on this peice is right, but I'm a firm beleiver in "you get what you pay for"
I don't see a jennings as a "depend on" gun, if it runs reliably at the range, it will be a last resort gun at best (if that). As for me I'll stick to my XD9, and my Colt. My wife's a .22 target shooter, and shoots whatever I'm currently not shooting.(till her S&W gets here)!!!! |
