.38 Super Guns

Why, when looking at a 1911 any manufacturer that has it in .38 Super, it is always more expensive than the .9 or .45 version?

From the higher end manufacturers the 38 sup is a less popular cartridges in terms of self defence and general shooting. It has been adopted by the competitive shooters more and the firearms offered are usually geared towards that market. That market being smaller than other markets drives the prices higher.

STI does not appear to discriminate in 1911 pricing between 9mm, 38 Super, 40 S&W, and 45 Auto, at least for their Trojan 5.0 and 6.0.

Then again their pricing reflects that.
