Older Browning HP Info Wanted

Howdy all, found an older HP made in Belgium, by Fabrique Nationale Herstal. Has a serial# of 245PM25XXX. It has an E on the left hand trigger guard, and an I and a possible crowned mark on the right hand trigger guard. Any ideas of year of manufacture and value would be appreciated greatly. Don't know if brickboy would be the man on this or what. It seems to be in really good condition, haven't shot it yet. It does have adjustable rear sight, and it appears the front sight is a machined part of slide. Also has possible walnut grip panels and 1 12 round mag. with a JI on bottom of floor plate. Barrel is either stainless, or polished, has matching #s on bbl. and front grip area. Blueing seems to be all there with no signs of pitting anywhere. Whattya thinkin fellas?

Around my neck of the woods they seem to go for around $450 - $550 if it's in excellent condition.

Just a few more questions

Are these mags supposed to drop free, the one that is in this one binds on the way out. Also it holds 14rnds, is this the norm for capacity? As for the mag disconnect, does the trigger improve much if this is made inop?

The mag disconnect is what keepsthe mags from dropping free. I have heard of people removing them and also polishing them and the contact points on the mags to help the mags out of the gun better. 14 rounds is the standard for some argentinian and other countries mags. The norm for regular Hi-power mags is 13. I have some Mec-Gar mags that are 13 and 15 rounds. I really recomend them if you want that extra 2 rounds.

Current Browning "factory" mags have a spring on them which helps with extraction/ejection of the mag (which the Mec-Gar mags do not have). I'm not certain that the spring is worth the $20 (approx) premium for Browning mags versus Mec-Gar mags.

As for improvement of the trigger through deactivation of the mag disconnect, my Hi Power had a trigger feel that I would categorize as "bizarre" with the disco in place, which I attributed to "oil canning" of the front face of the mag under pressure of the plunger of the disconnect. This went away after I replaced the trigger with a C&S trigger (which also eliminated the disco).

Removing the Magazine Disconnect will:
Improve the trigger by about 80% and allow the magazines to drop free.
It won't be a 1911 trigger yet, but it'll be lightyears better.

And you can always put it back if you imagine some reason to do so. It's not a permanent mod.

It was the Wide Combat trigger in hard chrome, but I'm pretty sure that I bought it from Brownell's instead of directly from C&S. I had to take a little off the top end of the top of the trigger lever after installation to account for some dimensional variation from the stock trigger.
