Didnt know where this should go...
I Have an XD40 Service, an AR15, 12 gauge and a .38 Special. Looking for my next gun. I will eventually have all 3 but for now the question is which one first. Im looking at
in 6inch .357 Magnum. XD45 in 5"or in .45ACPPlease give me the pros and Cons of each of these models and help me make up my mind. This gun will be used primarily for Back up home/ Primary Car gun. Thanks Da Funk |

just my two cents but i think you should start at the bottom of your list and work your way to the top as funds permit.

+1. You've already got an example of an XD and a wheelgun. Go for the 1911.

Everyone needs at LEAST one 1911.
There's really nothing to compare to it! But why the AO rather than a Springfield or Kimber?

Yes on the 1911 idea. No on the Auto Ordinance. Springfield Loaded or Kimber Custom II...maybe an older Colt.
I too have an XD-40 Service and wanted an XD45ACP, but looked at a used Sig P220 at the same price and forgot all about the XD45ACP. Dad has one of those GP100s in 6 inch trim. Nice pistol, but too chunky and does not have the feel or slick action of a Smith 686 in the same size. I used to own a Smith 686 4 incher...look at the 686 before buying the GP100...you'll notice a huge difference in feel and slickness. - Brickboy240

Aww yes, the question has now been answered and the 1911 it is. Was thinking about the A/O for cost purposes. I didnt know much about Kimber and I assumed that all there pistols were CA$H Money. With a little more research, last night, I did decide on a Kimber Custom II.
So, I guess the new question is, is this little beauty going to over run my XD40? |

I've had both a Ruger GP-100 And a Smith 686 the Ruger hands down was more accurate and more solidly built, the Smith had a better trigger untill I replaced the factory springs in the GP with a Wolf spring pack then there wasnt any differance. I've had 2 Smiths shoot loose 686 & 629, to the point of being unsafe I won't own another.
