Sig P220
Picked up a older P220, with the West Germany markings and JG or J6 date code. Any one have any advice on this one as far as what to watch out for or anything? Very low milage, less than 500 if that. Can't wait to get to the range and check her out. Thanks, in advance!!

Thanks guys, any concerns on dry fire. Should I go ahead and pickup some snaps for this as well. I guess I should just for jam practice too.

The 220 is the best shooting .45 I've handled. Very nice.

Mine is also an older W. German model.
What to watch out for? Well, its kind of boring. Load a mag, shoot it, repeat...over and over agian. Really! I have owned my P220 for 3 years and never had any sort of failure at all with several types of ammo. I had one old magazine that would not engage the slidestop after the last round, but hey, the mag was about 20 years old and beat up looking. I bought a few new mags and back to plain ol boring shooting with no troubles. Deadly accurate, too - it keeps up with my 3 1911s. You will need to buy lots of ammo. Mainly because you'll spend more time shooting and less time trying to figure out why its not feeding or ejecting (like my 3 1911s!). The Sig P220 is good...really good. It might be the best platform for the 45ACP round. The XD45ACP is nice, but its much chunkier overall and lacks the sleekness of the P220. The P220 points well and I can conceal it very well in a DeSantis Speed Scabbard, wearing only a long t-shirt. I am really taken by the Sig P220. It is no doubt, quickly becoming my favorite pistol. Good looking, reliable, accurate and feels very good in the hand - what else do you want from a pistol? - Brickboy240

I always prefer the snap. Although it shouldn't hurt it, but it just put less stress on the parts with a snap.

Fired casings work fine too, for 10-15 cycles, and then the dead primer starts getting hard from the pounding.
