My biggest prob now with my Gerber paraframe is that when its open the blade wiggles pretty badly. Ive tried to tightening it but it just makes it too tight to open. For a 20 dollar knife, i have def. gotten my moneys worth though. I really love the design of that knife. The blade lock is part of the frame which is pretty cool. Does anyone here think that i could just replace the plastic washers in it with new ones. Maybe that would stop the wiggle. Any thoughts....

i have the CRKT M16-13z (the 3.5" combo blade w/ zytel handle).
all i can say is that this knife is awesome. actually just found out michigan knife law says anything over 3" is illegal so it's been retired from the pocket for it's little bro w/ the tanto blade M16-12z. http://www.crkt.com/m16zytel.html opening stud is incredible. I also have a small spyderco jester on my key ring... that thing's been a trooper for 4-5 yrs. can't go wrong with either. |

Well, if price wasn't an object (which I realize it is) I would suggest looking at Mad Dog Knives, by Mark McClung, a custom knife maker.
Unfortunately, there is a 2yr waiting list for his new ones. He makes them for civilians, but specializes in military and le. If you go tohttp://www.tacticalforums.com and click on the Mad Dog forum he should have some pics. He also makes swords and hatchets. Military and le don't have the wait time. Expensive tho. I have a Spyderco ATS-55 fully serrated, that is wickedly sharp. It is almost 10yrs. old and has never been sharpened; it seems to be as sharp as it was new. I used it at work to cut down sheets and bedding the inmates had torn and used as clothing lines (against the rules). Goes thru cardboard like it's butter. |

![]() I just bought one of these CRKT Point Guards to replace a Spyderco I've been carrying for a couple of years. I could never get used to the Spyderco "Spyderhole" method of opening the knife. I prefer a knife with a thumb stud or something similar. This Point Guard is very well made. http://www.crkt.com/ptguard.html Check your local knife laws before buying any of the Kersahw knives with the assisted opening feature - they can be considered in the same class as switchblades in some states. bd |

I'm surprised that I'm the first one to plug the Benchmade mini-griptillian (or full size griptillian if you want a bigger one). If I lost it, I'd weep. Then I'd go out and buy another one exactly like it. I've handled so many different folders and this is the one that consistently makes me say "WOW." The locking mechanism is the best I've ever seen--easy & safe one handed folding (unlike spyderco--never understood the lock release on the back of the handle). Your fingers never need cross the path of the blade. My blade is half serrated, Mel Pardue design. It'll easily meet your budget ($60-$70). One other thing, buy a benchmade knife and for the life of the knife you can send it in to benchmade at any time along with $5 and they'll sharpen, clean and refurb it and send it back to you. I just got a back up knife so I'll probably be sending mine in soon.
See it here: http://www.benchmade.com/products/pr...aspx?model=555 Mine is the 555S. Don't believe that retail price--they can be had for less. I cannot recommend this one highly enough!

Here here. I agree, this is also a fantastic knife. I've always always loved benchmades. I don't own any, but have fondled plenty of them at stores and ones that friend's own. I've yet to hear a bad remark reguarding benchmades. They're slightly pricier, but worth it in my eyes. |
