Sa M1a

I am thinking about selling a rifle to start a fund for a standard M1A and need to know if anybody has one and what issues there are, mainly in the ammo area, I mostly shoot milsurp and need to know if the M1A will function on this type of ammo, I have heard that it will eat most ammo but need to know first hand from someone who has one not someone who is trying to sell me one.

Thanks

My buddy has one and he was trying to find ammo that was cheap. I told him about some Argentinian Milsurp ammo. Non corrosive. He got some and we went to the range and tried it out. Shot after shot went into a 4 inch circle at 100 yards. about 250 rounds later and no malfunctions we were sold! I think it is 150 grain ammo?? I am not sure I will have to ask him. Some rounds went into a 2 inch group when we got down and actually sighted the rifle in. I think it was 120 rounds for 39$

You might try posting on warrifles.com. I am also considering selling one of my Colt AR's A2 to get a SA M1A. My friend has a SA M1A standard, we were shooting from the standing position at 100 yrds and I put 20 rnds in 8" circle w/ no flyers. Awesome rifle!

SA milsurp works just fine in them too from my experience.

I bought a loaded model early in 2005. I've put Argentine and the South African ammo through it. South African seems cleaner. Problem with the Argentine ammo is I can't find it anywhere anymore. Never ever had a problem with the rifle. It did get picky on me once when I tried a crappy magazine. Cheaperthandirt has Springfield 10rd mags for like 10 bucks and they're real nice magazines. I'd go anywhere with my M1a.
