revolver grip
Hey all, I'm always trying new grips when shooting my snubby taurus. It's a compact frame revolver. What type of grip do you use? I've tried the right thumb rested on the left, left thumb crossed over the back of the right thumb (suggested from some article I once read... useful for "high-power" or "small" revolvers), and left thumb crossed over tip of right thumb. I've been equally accurate with the right thumb rested on the back (meaty part) of left thumb grip and the left thumb crossed over the back of the right thumb. Any suggestions? BTW, the revolver I shoot most often is a compact Taurus .357 mag with 2" ported bbl so recoil isn't hellacious anyway, but substancial.

I'm no revolver expert, but Jerry Miculek shoots it the same way he shoots and auto...
He only has 30+ national titles .... You might look at the thread in the Photos section. |

Hello Chup...
Right hand shooter... Left thumb over right ,push pull grip, strong wrist straight weak wrist locked. That's how I shoot, when I shoot weak hand I reverse the same grip.. By using the weak thumb over strong it allows you to maintain proper grip when single action firing. Weak thumb cocks hammer back.. Peace Talon

Talon, that's the biggest benefit I've seen to the left over right technique... allows the firearm to be cocked while for the most part, retaining the exact same grip (RH does not move one bit, LH moves very slightly, very minimal). Also it gives (didn't notice any major difference or improvements in accuracy) more support while the firearm is recoiling.
