Great Freaking Day at the Range.

Took my new toy S&W M&P15T (AR) to the range for the first shoots. I was supposed to meet my brother-in-law at 11:00 am at the gun range. I was driving and making way to good of time and not caching any traffic or even a single red light (32 mile trip). So I'm thinking of calling him, and just before I dialed, my cell phone rings it's him, his running a few minutes late. So I decide to stop by Southside guns (3 miles from the range) to pick up some mag's. I walked in and he is clearing out some heavy duty soft rifle bags with mag and accessories carrier. Usually this items cost $125.00. I got the last one and he gave it to me for $24.95, the mag's (New) 30 rounder’s, for $11.95, but here’s the kicker, an ammo box of British Military surplus 5.56 FMJ 62 gr. of supposedly 900 round count for $199.00.

When I get to the register, the owner walks in and states, that ammo box only has a round count of 720. So only charge him $119.00. As the employee prepares to process my Amex, he make a mistake in adding things up, in the mean time, this guys walks from the back room, and brings two more of those ammo cans. He yells at the owner, one can is half empty! The kid grabs my card runs it to the machine and I signed. The owner said did you already run the card? (To the employee) and the Kid said Yes!!! The owner smiles at me and pours the half empty can in my ammo box, FREE of charge, because not all of it fit, he puts the others in a plastic bag (about 200 rounds). I leave the Store with a big smile!!!!

I get in the Truck and drive to the Range, again not a single red light, as I parked my Brother-in law is there and paid for the range and a spotter telescope rental!!! The Target room had two 100 yards unused tgt ready to go for FREE. One being a C-more. Again I smile!!! We start zero’ing in the Combat/knock down sites at 50 yards first. My brother in law is left handed, so we confirmed and windages adjust and heights adjust. Now groups are 2+" with this cheap ass ammo. We then zero in the Eotech 551 at 50 yards and adjust both height a windage... 1 Magazine latter, 30 rounds through the 10 ring at 50. We then move to 100 and no adjustments!!! Again I smile! We then start a wager/bet for lunch. Unsupported/standing 60 shots each for 3 rounds best count gets free lunch.

No my brother in law is one of the very best shotgun shooters I've ever meet, and in clay he's the very best I’ve seen. His decent at pistol, but was talking smack (friendly family way) that his rifle skills are better than his shotgun. Short end of it I won by 9 rounds at 100 yards. FREE LUNCH!!

It was really hot, but while we eat, it starts pouring cat's and dogs, when we are done, the sun is out!!! I drive back to the beach (where I live) and again, not a freaking red light!!! My wife Calls and she's got the Corporate Baseball seats and the parking pass, for a 6:00 pm game. Come home she's there, I shower and no Kids...hint! Hint!!!

Shower again hit the road to see the Jacksonville Sun's. We take the Convertible and again no freaking Red Lights or traffic. Sit at the game the Sun's whipped butt 8-1, btw our FREE food is brought to the FREE seats next to the Doug-out between home plate and third, I'm rubbing elbows with the coach!! Leave game top down great breeze tons of stars, ac blasting and Guns and roses (Knocking on heavens doors live long version playing). Again, No freaking red light until the one before my house. Bring ammo box in, etc. and again no Kids home!!!! Hint hint!!!! Even though we shot over 700 rounds of 5.56 we still have a ton left! A Really Blessed day!!! I’m not bragging, I’m just exploding with enjoyment and wanted to share with my fellow XD members.

BTW: Wife looks at me tonight and said; you should get what ever scope you want or another rifle!!!!

I apologize for the Rant and here are some pics.

Actually that radway green ammo is some of the best surplus I've ever fired. I've gone through three of those 720 round cans and am in the process of reloading the brass "bonus". Another good one is the ADCOM you see in shotgun news just avoid any with a 1999 date on the headstamp. Sounds like you should have bought a Powerball ticket tonite. 175 million would top this day off nicely.

Hehe that is nice!

Archive this post for yourself. I'd say a few of those in a lifetime is better than average! Someday re-reading this will put a smile on your face. It did mine.

Radway green is good ammo. Remember that it is SS-109 bullet so some ranges may get pissed if you shoot the metal targets. I have 15 cans of the stuff and it came with the stripper clips and bandoliers. BTW you can get it from AIM Surplus and Sportsmans guide too if you like it. I pay 139.00 a can.

Nothing beats a kick a$$ day like that! The next time you have a crappy day at the range (or anywhere else for that matter), remember that day and you're good!!!!
