.45 LC and .454 Casull question...
So I am loading my Uberti 1873 Cattleman for the first time when I noticed something odd. The back of one of the rounds looked different than the others in the box, so I pulled it out and saw it was a .454 Casull. I was suprised how close it was in size to the .45 LCs it was mixed in with. What would have happend if I hadn't notice the round was different and I tried to fire it from my .45 LC? Whats are the differences between the rounds?

I don't think 454 will chamber. Please check. I know it is like 357 and 38. You can shoot 45LC in 454 guns. Also if it had chambered and you fired, the gun would have blown apart!

Allright, I have to ask- who put the ammo in the box you were loading out of?

I did that last year when we were sighting in our deer rifles. I shoot a 30-06 and my brother shoots a .270.
270 rounds sound kinda funny when you shoot them through an 06 barrel Chris |

Damn.... I would write an e-mail to Master and tell them what I found. My guess is that your pretty little SAA would have been reduced to shrapnel by that round. Glad you didn't get hurt.

I was mistaken. The .454 Casull doesn't chamber properly in my .45 LC. The nose of the bullet sticks out of the chamber. Good thing I didn't try rotating the cylinder.
One of my old roommate's 9mm rounds got mixed in with my .40. I didn't notice when I was loading the magazine for my .40 XD Service Model. It sounded like a cap gun going off. I have the spent shell tucked away somewhere as a reminder to pay attention to all aspects of handling my firearms. Had I loaded out for defensive carry or for duty carry like that, and got in a scrap that required me to fire and I hit that 9mm, I'd have been up sh!ts creek! Pay attention to how you load out!!!

The only Sig 220 I ever saw jam occurred when I had a bunch of deputies out for a qualification- and one of them managed to load a 'stray' .40 round into his .45 cal mag. To the gun's credit, it fed & fired it, and even made a weird little oblong hole in the target at 7 yards. The case split and it didn't eject though. No harm done, and a few good laughs all around once we figured it out.

I have to say paying attention is a real big one for me. I go to the range with a lot of different guns/calibres and my friend want to shoot them all(never pay for either!). Oh well live and learn. Also it might have been someone looking at the bullets in the shop you bought it at. I see a lot of people opening boxes just to look at the shiny bullets. Just put it in the wrong box maybe.
