Cool Hi-point 9mm Carbine???

Hey, paid a visit to the local shop today...I was only going to buy ammo, but while I was there I overheard a customer and an employee talking about the 9mm hipoint carbine! I have never handled one...but Ive seen how ugly they are... The 2 men at the store made the gun sound like the best firearm available for under $1000....but I just cant believe anything they said based on how cheap the gun appears to be made...and the fact that it is a pistol caliber! What do you all think......just curious. thanks in advance!

Point of reference...

1000 $$$ was not a value that actually came out during their convo....I was simply trying to convey that the 2 men made the gun sound spectacular.....in reality, i think they sell it at the shop for about $200...sorry for the confusion

You can now put lipstick on that pig by changing out the stock.

I don't own one. I want one. Bad.

From what I can tell, they are cheaply constructed, reliable as hell, and surprisingly accurate. $200 for a plain-jane 9mm carbine is a little high, they can usually be found for $160-175.

Is it an AR? No. It's not even a Beretta Storm. But it'll do a darn good impression for less than half the price.

Owned 3, last one I put the ATI stock on with rails and a Barska holosight.
Thing was indestructable and accurate as hell (2" groups at 100yds). Rated for +P+ and would shoot everything I put in the mags. Plus lifetime warranty with a company in the US that actually backs it up.
for $150 bucks it's almost silly not to have one.

$165 Is a good deal. I never heard of the accuracy being that good. 2" at 100 yards for $165 is a freaking deal. What type of hiCap mag's can it take?

From what I can tell, the only high-cap mags it takes are aftermarket's like Pro-Mags or whatever that brand is, and the general consensus is that they suck and are unreliable. That's one of the big complaints...everybody wishes Hi-Point had made it accept Glock mags.
