S&W 686, shrouded hammer, won't snag, but still allows for single action use.

EDIT... haha whoops... that was suppose to be 638.. You would think with as much as I type I would avoid those kind of typos

Talking S&W Model 638.....

without a doubt. If you see Ed on the street, in
church, at the restuarant, on the range or walking
around in a nudist colony , you can bet that I have
that humpback on me somewhere!! By the way,
it is the Gen 1 +p rated.

Don't leave home without it.

S&w 642

I find it the best compromise between weight and power. I know they make some lighter snubbies but I cannot shoot anything lighter than 15 oz worth a damn at least with loads I want to use for self defense. On the other hand my 3" SP101 which with .357 mag loads is very accurate is just too much to slip in a pocket and if I am going to put something on my belt it holds more than 5 rounds.

Obviously I really like the one I own, but it's not optimal for all situations since it's wide and heavy as the dickens. It's a taurus 617B 7-shot .357 2"bbl. (ported) snubby. Very sweet piece that doesn't give too much sass since it's heavy(er than most "carry revolvers") and ported... shooting .357mag is a breeze and .38spl is girlscout stuff.

I had a chance to buy a S&W Model 19 2" a while back(should have). The finish was OK but everything else was great. I've owned a Nickel 19 in 4" for about ten years and the revolver was about ten years old when my uncle gave it to me.
I lost track of how many rounds I've put through it and I've no problem with it.

Hands down it has to be my Ruger 2" SP-101 DAO. I also have the 3" SA/DA version and just recently picked up a S&W 65-5 3". All 3 are .357mags and I like em all.

Well, I have only ever had one and that is a S&W Model 60. It is a stainless version of the Model 36 Chief. I'm not referring to the 60 out now that shoots 38 and 357.

I bought mine in 1977 and it only shoots 38. It shoots +P. I had the hammer bobbed since I was using it for a BUG on duty and didn't want the hammer to catch up in my pocket. I also carried it off duty. When I retired 3yrs ago, I retired it for the XDSC. I only shoot it at the range or when my XD is down, like for a cleaning.
