Good Price for a Mosin?

saw a couple at the gun store today they where running 199.99 each one had a syn. stock and scope they wanted 199.99 i think for it didnt look real close at it though. i almost came home with one but i wanted to see if 200+ tax was a good price for an old mosin? one caught my eye had nice barrell crown and rifling seemed alot better than the other two.

God no. You can pick up a mosin 91/30 at a gunshow for around or even <100 bucks usually. Slap a cheap scope, crappy plastic stock, and scope mount on it, and you've accounted for an extra 100 dollars worth of junk. If you want a mosin, get a regular one from a gunshow or store (where ever) and keep one factory. I refinished mine (which to collectors is "bubba-ing" it) but I love how it looks now, and mine is not for collecting, it's for shooting. When I have money to do it, I'll get another one and leave it packed in cosmoline if I desire to preserve history.

IIRC they go on sale in CA @ Big 5 Sporting Goods for $89 or so. And from what I saw we are usually the expesive state! Just reread your post and can't tell whether the syntch stock one came with scope or did both come with the scope?
