Shot the Beretta 90-two
National Beretta range day on Saturday.
The Beretta Rep. had one 9mm 90-two 'new' pistol for trying out. The pistol looks nice, feels ok in the grip, somewhat muzzle heavy. Has a very long trigger travel, it feels like the break is at the rear trigger guard. The pistol we had for shooting was way off on sites, had to aim about 3 inches high of center for 'near' center hits at 10 yds. Everyone I talked to said the same thing about the aim; it wasn't just me...could of just been the gun that was there. It was getting run HARD. I put 50 rounds thru it, and it ran without a problem.

I also shot that 90-two in .40 and the PX4 Storm in 9MM. Nice guns! I got them in the middle. =) Was only allowed to shoot one 10 rnd mag though.

They let me shoot the 90-two, the classic 92FS, then the 90-two again for comparison. Then Cx4 and the Px4. I did the same with the 90-two. Aimed about 3 inches high to hit the bulleye.
Got the hat and pins. They haven't called me for the free 90-two yet.

The Beretta Rep. at our range said the 90-two in 40cal wasn't out yet.
He had the PX4 in 40cal and acouple CX4 in 9mm.

Well, yesterday I got to shoot a PX4 and the Ninety Two. I've prev shot a PX4 a couple of times, and to be honest, the gun doesn't do much for me. I shot it again today - they let U shoot 1 mag for free thru each gun. First time I ever shot a .40 cal before. I did feel the difference. In a metal framed gun, though, it wasn't that big of a difference (might feel stronger in a polymer, though). I shot a little bit low, but did pretty well.
The Ninety-Two is a nice, gun, though. Did very well w/ it. I've prev had Berettas before, though, over the years. So, I kinda knew what to expect. Considering it is the same trigger system basically, it's interesting that I shot low w/ the PX4 yet spot on w/ the Ninety Two. Of course, the sight radius is a bit longer on the Ninety-Two. Got a free hat afterwards too... Would I buy a Ninety-Two - Not sure. I have had a couple of regular 92s in the past, as well as a Cougar, years ago. The Bruniton finish isn't exactly the best - I always found that it wears so easily. And, w/ an open slide design, the gun looks beat-up pretty quickly, from the wear that develops on the barrel. |

The 90-two (9mm) Type F that I shot yesterday morning shot low-right with the 25 rounds I put through it. I think that I was the second person to shoot it at my local range (the oil was almost dripping off the mags, making it hard to load) - I could only guess that it might come in as it got broke in. I had a hard time getting used to the grip. I really didn't have an issue with the SA pull, DA felt like it was in the 12+ pound range. I didn't wait around to try the Px4 or Cx4.
I liked the sights on it and can appreciate Beretta's efforts in introducing it to the public in this manner. I probably wouldn't buy one, but would not trade it if I won one. Added a maroon hat to my collection (although it ended up a little sweat-soaked after wearing it while mowing the lawn after I got back from the range). |

I handled one this past weekend at the Melbourne, FL gun show.. I can honestly say that I don't like the feel of the grip.. Maybe if someone comes up with some aftermarket grips I'll consider it, but until then, I'll stick with my M9.

Here at Reeds indoor range they only allow us to try the PX4, saying the other two are not approved by mighty kalifornia. I forgot to ask them, then how can anyone win a 90 two?
The PX4 is a nice one though, feels solid and heavy, comparing to my XD9 tac. I did well with 20 rounds of .40 caliber. 17 shots grouped tightly in the center, 3 flied to about 1~2 inches to the lower left. I came too late and they ran out of hats. I want to see what I missed. Can anyone post a pic? |
