Yet another disappointing gun show
I went to an Eastman's gun show today and finally admitted that these just aren't worth it anymore. Before going, I had researched the items that I was interested to get a delivered price list (including shipping). I found several of the items at the show but in almost every case, the prices were higher.
Ammo was ridiculous. 5 boxes of 7.62x39 Wolf for $25! That's 5 bucks per 20 rounds. What a ripoff. Mags were over priced. Hardware - bipod & a rear sight - both higher. Yes, I could get it all there and not have each item with shipping. But the prices were actually still higher at the show, plus I had to pay sales tax. I think it's going to be a long time before I go to another gun show. |

I was rather disappointed at the last gun show I went to.
I took along a Marvel Unit 2 Conversion gun (a 1911 converted to .22, for those who aren't familiar with it) to possibly trade. Almost every single table stopped me and asked what I was wanting to trade for. Most of them acted offended that I wasn't interested in anything on their table (at least, not interested at those prices). One dealer even said, "Son, you just don't know what you want. Why'd you bother coming today?" I felt like responding, "You know, with dealers like you, I don't know why I bother coming to these things." That said, there's a gun show in town this weekend, and I think I'm going to go tomorrow. I'm on the lookout for a Hi-Point 9mm carbine.

Your experience is similar to the treatment some guy got at this show. The guy was giving him a hard time because he had the nerve to be uninterested in the crap on his table. The conversation started with him calling the guy a "tire kicker" and it went downhill from there since the guy didn't care for that one.

I've stopped going. The prices are no better than at my gun shop, plus I have to pay to get in. Don't know about the ones in your area, but the big show in Nashville should be renamed, "A Whole Lotta Knives and a Few Guns" show.

I went to a show last week AR shopping, most of the vendors were ok but not always real easy to talk to. I had a list of questions and it was like pulling teeth at times to get answers. Guess they figured if I wasn't going to buy something right away it wasn't worth their time talking

Gunshows, give us AR users a bad name. Everytime I go you have some yahoo with 3 Surefires or Surelights, lasers, and grips everywhere, all over it.
After admission price and parking price to the convention center, I rarely save any money, although I used to save on bulk ammo. Now I realize that the shipping cost of buying bulk ammo online outweighs the hassle of just going to a gunshow and paying to get in. |

The gunshows in Tampa are OK. You have to be on the lookout because there are deals to be had, but not on every table. You have to do your research before hand and be sure you know what you want.
I like to go and see the guy selling the tricked out AR-15 with grenade launcher, TV camera (to shoot around corners), long-range mic, 100 round drum, laser, scope (more like telescope) and other stuff I couldn't even begin to figure out what it was for. He was selling for $6K. Geez, what a deal...
