Metal Storm .... wooooo wee!!

Not sure if you guys have seen this yet, but i just watched this vid on the new Metal Storm technology... it's pretty interesting.

I want one!

The metal storm is an amazing piece of machinery. Doesn't quite fit my normal definition of a gun, but it's cyclic rates are unbelievable. I wouldn't mind having one except I couldn't even afford the ammo that thing would go through, lol.

I have see Metal Storm before and even met one of the guys that works for the company at a conference I went to for work, but I guess I still fail to see the real point of metal storm.

If I need to put that many round in the air at once to deal with a target I probably would have been better off using a bigger gun.

Wow. That's some impressive technology. Certainly NOT for the civilian realm (who could afford to own one, AND feed it?). I'm not sold on the applications and rounds-per-second frequency. Yeah, so you can launch 50000 rounds through the SAME hole in 1 second. So what? Is that really practical or just a waste of ammo?
