Encouraged my buddy to buy this today...
http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...14&isFirearm=Y
The other day he comes into my office and tells me he wants to buy the biggest handgun available. So I pull up the S&W Website and show him the 500. We go to the gun show today and he buys it...about $945 before all the add on costs. The thing is HUGE and the ammo is insanely big! The nice thing about a pistol that has ammo that is $2.00 a round is that it is probably so powerful that you will only put a couple rounds through it before you put it in the safe and leave it alone! He was wavering between the regular 500 or the Performance Center gun and since the Performance Center gun was only about $50-60 more, it seemed like a much better deal. The guy that sold him the ammo for it asked him if he wanted the name of a good dentist or orthopedic surgeon...noting he'll either get his teeth knocked out or his wrist broken. My buddy is a big dude...prolly 260-275 big ol german dude, so he'll probably handle it alright...not for me though! Anyone else ever shoot one of these bad boys? Whatdidjathink of it?

I myself have not fired it. I've fired similar like a .460 or .480. The heavy weight of the gun will actually soften the recoil, but it still is a cannon. He shouldn't have too much of a problem handling it.

Guy I know says he used to have one and fired it twice and decided that it was too much gun for him.

I've only seen one in action at the range. The guy shooting it didn't seem to bother by it. I'd love one

I've fired it, a total of 5 times...
Then I flinched on every shot thereafter with my .40... Its not terrible, but not something I'd want to shoot more than say 20 times in one outing.... -stunks |
