Kimber 10 II

Anybody own this pistol? How is it? How would you compare it to an XD .45?

I don't own that particular model of Kimber, but I Do use a Kimber Product as my CCW back-up (Tactical Pro II). So all I can shed light on, between the XD and a 1911 "style" weapon is the Trigger and frame width. The aiming point are VERY, VERY similar.

some folk;s feel that the recoil of the XD is less than the 1911 full size frame. Others like myself think the XD is just a little more.

I had a Pro BP Ten II. It was a very, very accurate pistol...when it worked. Anyone that knows Kimbers will tell you there is a 500 round break in period - its right in the manual. I was too impatient for this. It is a very solid, well built pistol. IMHO, the ergonomia are great. The trigger is amazing. In fact, I may try another one. The only drawback is the mags. They are difficult to come by, and expensive ($50 a piece from Kimber). Also, they are not the most reliable mags. If you can get a few of them, and tweak them to feed smooth, you're set. All in all, its a solid weapon and accurate 1911 style hi-cap.

As compared to my XD45:

-Same capacity - 13rd mag +1 chamber
- Classic 1911 style grip w/ beavertail - No thumb recesses like XD grip (I like this on XD)
- aggressive checkering (I like this a lot & wish the XD was like this)
- more rounded slide
- 1911 is NOT ambi safety OR ambi mag release like XD
- 1911 (4" size) needs paper clip tool to hold captured recoil spring, XD not tools req'd
- 1911 external hammer fired - XD internal striker fired
- IMO you simply can't get a better trigger than a 1911, especially a Kimber or other reputable manufacturer

Just a few things. Good luck.
