FN 40 or Beretta PX4-40
My anniversary is on the The 4th so me and the wife are going to go shooting at the range and while I am there I am going to try and talk her into a new hand gun. I think I have it narrowed down to the 2. Anyone with some opinions?

I'm in the same boat. I already have a 9mm Hi Power and I really want that .40. Don't need it and I've been trying to talk myself out of it for a month, but I've been a Hi Power fan for a long time and for $400 I don't think I can restrain myself much longer. I know it's kind of dated and a lot of others will disagree, but they're great shooters, easy to field strip, point naturally and they just feel like they belong in your hand. And they look great. I say go for the FN. Plus you can swap out the barrels for it like the XD. Watch that hammer, it will bite you, but you can get a no bite hammer for it. They're kind of proud of parts for it though. Does the one you're looking at have the standard trigger, or the SFS system?
Sorry, I get kind of enthusiastic about Hi Powers. Happy Anniversary. |

I am not sure about the trigger .I never herd of it. I liked the bi-tone of the FN and the price 425.The Beretta looks like it would be a really nice gun too. It has the light charged night sights on it and I have read that people really like the gun. I don't need one I just like them and the price. Anyone else with some advise on either. I would really like to know how the recoil and the triggers are. I read that the PX4 has a design that reduces the recoil allot.

I'd give the reliability nod to the FN.
I think the FN looks better, feels better. All FN for me on this one.

xd45acp4life, sorry, I hear FN and I automatically think Hi Power. You're probably talking about the FNP40. Different critter. Both are good guns. To me, the FN is a lot like the XD and i might go with the PX4 just for a change. I think you're talking about the rotating barrel. I think Brickboy240 has shot his brothers and liked it. You might search some of his posts.
Edited to add that Brickboy is also a Hi Power fan. Check them out if you get a chance. Last edited by pat3332 : 06-30-2006 at 05:04 PM. |

Got an FNP40 last month and have over 400 rounds down range without a problem. Great balance and very accurate. Had the FNP40 and my Sig 229 .40 at the range yesterday and actually had better shot placement with the FNP40. It reminds me of the Sig 229 for about half the price and takedown is the same as a Sig. Mine was $529.00 with night sights.

Well after all that I decided to save my money and put it toward saving for the socom 2, Les baer AR or a RRA AR-10. Plus after I looked at the two a little longer I decided it's something I probably wouldn't shoot much after the new wore off.
