Taurus PT-1911
I want one and I want one now! does anyone know when they will be available. I have talked to several gun shops and they had no idea. This is a good read I came across. http://www.shootingtimes.com/handgun_reviews/pt_080505/

Don't hold your breath. The release date has changed multiple times, and I believe it should have originally been released sometime shortly after the SHOT Show 2005, which was a year and a half ago. I gave up and bought a SA loaded version.

I have seen it reviewed in a couple mags now so hpoefully they will get it going. Plus I would rather have them wait to ship and have it right them hurry it up and have it scewed up. Thanks for the insight though I had no idea it has been pushed back.

be real interested to see how it is when it comes out... a springfield GI would be cool too.

Have you looked closely at the Taurus 1911 in photos? The gripframe looks really squared off in the front...I dunno about that.
Yes, I'd grab a GI Springfield now, if you have to have an inexpensive 1911. I have one and other than a magazine replacement and replacing the extractor, the thing has been perfect. its reall a very good shooter for a basic 1911. Even with the dinky sights, mine shoots tighter groups than my two Colts. The Springfield GI is a very underrated 1911, in my opinion. With an extractor replacement (13 dollar Wilson Bulletproof Extractor), some Wilson magazines and a basic trigger job...its amazingly good! - Brickboy240

As for the 3rd Quarter 2006, I'll believe it when I see it. I've seen that rate change more than once on their website.

Not to mention that you should not buy the first ones out, as they'll have bugs that need working out. Even Sig did not get the 1911 right the first time.
Better off buying the proven GI Springer and forgetting the Taurus 1911. - Brickboy240
