If you had to choose between..

A 1911 or an XD-45 or any 45 from Glock, Sig, Kahr, Ruger, CZ etc.. which would you choose and why?

I'm sure some will say the obvious... capacity, so lets leave that one out please.

I think my avatar says it all, but I'm a 1911 man. XD-45 would be second, and a CZ would be in third.

If I were adding to the collection, it would be a Sig P220R SAO since it addresses the only issue that I have with my current P220. Other than that, there really isn't a .45 ACP out there that inspires me that I don't already have.

If I could only keep one that I currently own, it would be the Colt Gold Cup that I have owned longer than I have known my wife. Call it nostalgia for lack of a better term.

No Brainer

For me it wouldnt be a choice I would take my Kimber Custom 1911. I've trained with a 1911 since 1986 and know it inside and out, what makes them tick and what makes them stop ticking. Plus I have a droor full of spare parts, magazines aftermarket goodies ect. 2nd would be the XD platform.

I have three 1911s and a Sig 220...big 45ACP fan. No XD 45 ...yet. Maybe someday. Still, 8 rounds of 45ACP seems like plenty to me.

That new Sig GSR Revolution 1911 would be my next choice...maybe this fall I'll take the plunge.

As for right now...if my life depended on it...I am grabbing the Sig P220 first...its the most reliable 45 pistol I have ever owned. Accurate, feels good in the hand and has an "all business" look to it.

Although I'd love to have a nice 1911, I'd still go with the XD. For no other reason but to keep it in the family.

My favorite pistol is my Kimber G/R. it looks and shoots the best. As far as picking a gun I would stick with a 1911 becouse I just shoot them the best. My dream 45 would be a Night Hawk predator or a nowlin 1911. I do use a XD 9mm for my nightstand gun becouse God forbid I have to shoot somebody I don't want the leo to take my G/R and keep it for 6 months. Plus my XD has a rail for my m6.

Ok, quick disclaimer, I don't own a .45.... so if anyone were to give me one, I'd be happy with any! However, I've shot my friends Sig 220, and that's a really nice pistol. Honestly, though, I think I'd like to have a Springfield 1911 more than anything. I'm not sure why -- probably the military history in the US.

That depends on what I would be using it for.

Duty carry = XD-45
Competition, off duty concealed = 1911

plinking = anything I can get my hands on
