Kimber Pro Carry II

Hey folks I am wondering if any out there has a Kimber Pro Carry. I am hoping to pick one up at the end of next month. And I have heard alot of folks are having issues with their Kimbers. If anyone has any of these issues lets hear 'em.

Thumbs up Kimber Tac Pro

I have a Kimber Tac Pro.II with the external extractor and I have had very good results with it. It works best with the 230gr Ammo. both FMJ&JHP.

Also I use only Wilson Combat Mags. and lots of breakfree lub. Another item is Kimber recommends changing the recoil spring after 800 rounds and I found the old spring I replaced to be much shorter after around 1000 fired shots.

Anyway I like mine and feel if there is any problems the Kimber Custom Shop has done a really good job helping the people with real problems.

I have a Kimber Eclipse Target II with the internal extractor and although not a pro carry, it has had only 1 problem to date with a round. I've got 800 rounds through mine and the only problem was a very lightly loaded range reload that didn't cycle the slide back all the way and caused a jam. I knew it was loaded light when it went off, very light recoil and the shot was not as loud as other rounds. Other than that it has had no malfunctions whatsoever. Mine eats any kind of ammo that I've put through it. I haven't tried SWC yet, but am buying a box of it next weekend to try. Mine came with the Meggar (sp?) magazines and I am going to get some Wilson Combat mags in the very near future for carry.

...Just FYI Kimbers has moved away from external extractors. You can go to the largest 1911 forum and read the details. www.1911forum.com

I traded a used Sig P220 for a new kimber pro carry II and have had no problems what so ever with it. However I have only put a couple thousand rounds through it. I always wanted a commander length 1911, and the only regret I have had is that I did not make the trade to get one sooner. For a mass produced gun its great, It's no korba carry by any means but It's great for what it is.

Best of luck

I have a stainless Pro Carry Series 1 that shoots like a dream. I installed a medium length solid trigger and grip taped the front strap and it makes a great carry piece. Light weight, good trigger, nice sights, and outstanding accuracy are its strong points. It's been very reliable with JHP and reloads. I've had an occasional fired case bounce off my head and I'll fiddle with the extractor some day.

Note that this is the internal extractor, not the external extractor that Kimber has now abandoned in favor of the old style.

I can add that the tactical Pro II is very accurate and reliable. More over, isnce it's an alloy frame it is VERY light and extremly easy for CCW.
